I just saw my psychiatrist. I hoped to be able to talk about specific nutrients and supplements for anxiety and reversal of problems related to long term Xanax. No such luck.
She gave me a new rx for Gabapentin, I think 300 mg, TID. I vaguely remember trying gabapentin some years ago and not liking it, but I don’t remember why.
My anxiety and insomnia are both sky high. Things like vitamin C, magnesium glycinate, and moderate amounts of niacin seem to help at first but then make the anxiety worse, if that’s even possible. Last night I used some lavender essential oil and I was up till about 6am.

I look back at my posts on this site, and I see that I haven’t been consistent. I give up on things too quickly.

But I’m rambling. Really I just wanted to ask about people’s experiences with gabapentin.

Thank you guys.

Seroquel is better if you take it with Glucophage.   Gabapentin is difficult to dose, has more variable effects, but doesn't have weight gain issues.

There is no solution to your problems but time.  But, seroquel has helped me in the past.   Just be careful initially with the fatigue.  You will be inclined to drink copious coffee or smoke cigarettes. Both contribute to anxiety.

I've used Gabapentin for withdrawal anxiety and its helped me greatly...300mg will quell my anxiety very quickly, usually within an hour or so...I'll take another 300mg later in the day if needed..I know of others using 900mg daily with good results..No side effects at all..It's worth a try if your suffering from withdrawal symptoms.

don't take vitamin C, hardly anyones deficient.  sames true of niacin.  its easy to see how taking too much wouldnt be good for anxiety

lavender oil is anti-nootropic anyways, rosemary is the one you want.  don't think either affects sleep regardless

this doctor sounds liberally-minded, perhaps he lets his mind hang out a bit.  because it's only ever prescribed off label for anxiety.  they use it mostly for epilepsy and a few other things.  so if it stops working, quit taking it obviously

i would stick with the magnesium a bit longer.  i've had good results with the threonate form.  you can even tell it potentiates whats in your food, youre just getting more overall.

concerning the GABA-A site and benzo recovery... bacopa restores function at the cellular and membrane level, but it takes nearly a year to start working.  ginkgo and red ginseng also modulate the GABA-A site, for insomnia purposes it's best to dose them in the morning.  dont have to take them both every day, if you just take each of them twice a week thats better than nothing
