Joan Rivers had her vocal cords checked at the end of August because she wanted to know why her voice had become so raspy. During an biopsy they began to close up, in what is know as a laryngospasm. Our voice is an indication of our health and our age. A blind colleague said to me recently, listen to this woman, and played me a voice mail message. "She's 90 years old, and when I found out I was amazed," she said. "All that time I thought I'd been dealing with a much younger woman". Indeed, she sounded about 50.
