Oh please, don't talk about the weather. Partly because it's really icy and cold here but mostly because it's such a soul crushingly mundane subject. Surely you'd rather ask me something more interesting concerning drugs, sex or crazy stuff in general.

From Noah Baumbach's Kicking and Screaming, and one of the best lines I've heard in a while: "Come on, be romantically self-destructive with me," says a topless and involved woman attempting to entice a man into engaging in casual sex.

Remember the sage words of Henry Miller:
"I have no money, no resources, no hopes. I am the happiest man alive."

It's somewhat shocking how thoroughly dogs clear bones of the remains of meat.

The general tactics used by AGW denialists:
1. Conspiracy
2. Selectivity (cherry-picking)
3. Fake experts
4. Impossible expectations (also known as moving goalposts)
5. General fallacies of logic.
6. Continuing to repeat arguments long after they have been debunked.
7. Distraction (arguing a single narrow subset, ad nauseum)

Is it healthy to allow yourself to become alienated by the superficial lifestyles of your friends? Because I'm growing a bit tired of going to bars, dinner parties, and discussing the latest consumption trophies.

How cool, Eastern Iowa finally has a British restaurant, but too bad it's pub style.

"Finally"? Haha, the only thing I'd eat at a British restaurant is breakfast.

I would say that my preference for British food has been in large part due to my father's insistence on personally cooking Irish and British fusion at least twice a week during my formative years. But British cuisine can be quite the comforting diversion from the sort of strict diet that many adhere to, and with the right amount of imagination, exemplified by Gordon Ramsay, a cuisine that's usually ordinary can become quite the hedonic experience.

We're having a brutally cold winter in Iowa, but I'm wondering, how bad is it in your part of Scandinavia?

Hi, just a quick thank you for the nice combination of good info and absence of condescension...for those of us nervous to post amongst the researchers, your gentle responses are encouraging.
