Lowering igf-1

I am looking for supplements to lower igf-1 throughout the body. My plan is to go on the keto diet, take the supplement and see what the effects are.

The purpose is to shrink my bones. For those who think it is impossible, you are mistaken. Transgenders, aging people and people with specific diseases can experience shrinking of hands, feet, head, etc., which is permanent. This is almost certainly due to lowering of igf-1.

 

Ways to lower igf-1:

1. Keto diet/carb restriction (50%)

2. Protein restriction (unknown)

3. Fasting (50%)

4. Estrogen (15-30%)

5. Androgen suppression (unknown)

High dose slow-release melatonin could reduce serum androgens considerably. Together with a keto diet which also reduces androgens it could be a significant reduction. But would it be sufficient? I am also worried about the potential for penile shrinkage.

no of course it can be done and it happens (unfortunately for most.)   I am curious as to why,   since I would prefer my bones get larger and stronger  (I had years of malnutrition,   so I worry about injury later in life.)   Not sure how noticable the difference would be,   though.   Interesting proposition.   Keep us updated?

Metformin will lower igf levels. Cabergoline will lower igf as it’s also prescribed for acromegaly but I wouldn’t recommend long term use of it as it’s a dopamine agonist. Lots of ways to inhibit igf here:

Sadly the self-hacked article is filled with nonsense such as carbs lowering igf-1 although it's known that carbs increase igf-1 the most of all. It also claims that estradiol increases igf-1 which is totally false except in muscle tissue. Estrogen lowers igf-1 considerably and is responsible for women's shorter stature compared to men.

 

I refuse to believe that melatonin increases igf-1 but that's the idea circulating out there. Is there evidence that it lowers igf-1? I'm not good at finding relevant studies.

It would seem so but fasting also raises growth hormone for a very short period after days of fasting but it still lowers igf-1 by about 50% and the increased growth hormone has zero effect on growth of any tissue but instead serves to help regulate proteins or blood glucose in response to deficiency in carbs and protein from the fast.

As for anti-estrogens, they lower igf-1 in tissues with which are estrogen-dependent, like breasts and such, and in some other tissues like muscles, too. Estrogen lowers igf-1 considerably so lowering estrogen should increase igf-1 levels although in isolated tissues it may fall.
