What's new? Cholesterol is bad now? Even the good ones?

I would say the exact opposite, cholesterol is good now, even the bad one. Read Grain Brain and The end of Alzheimer's, they both recommend, and have research backing up their recommendations, a cholesterol higher than 150 in any case.

The best guide is where money is involved, where there is a measurable cost.

Bad HDL to LDL ratios are where the insurance companies are worried because it costs them money.

There is correlation to high LDL and atherosclerosis, but for individuals the issue has too many variables for a definitive answer.
