I could hear both, didn't try the 17.5, I'm only 19 thought, on the other hand I can hear the buzzing that monitors and TV's make... Could only hear up to around 17kHz with the tone generator, could be speaker related.

I've noticed that -- as I've gotten older, buzzing TVs and monitors don't seem to bother me as much. It used to drive me insane... to the point where I was anal about turning off every one in the room. Now, I'll watch a DVD and forget the TV is on.

Scary to see an actual effect of this hearing loss! On the other hand, that's kind of a blessing, too. ;)

I wonder if playing some of those higher frequency tones is driving all the dogs in the neighboring apartments insane...

I remember in high school and college that I couldn't go into music stores and computer stores that used crappy TV's, because the sound was quite piercing. Good way to lose business... Or maybe they were trying to keep pesky teenagers like myself out!

Did another check, and I can hear the 18kHz from the tone generator, just didn't have it loud enough last time.

I'm 43 and I could hear the 17 easily and the 18 hardly if at all

Now you are showing off Aubrey [lol]

I'm 34 and can't hear either. I wouldn't even be able to hear a 15.

I sing in a punk rock band and whilst I can't hear what you 17-18 years can hear I bet you haven't got as many girls hanging off your ears as I have [tung].

Oh the sacrifices that one makes.

Now (in a study) it appears that women hear better than men.

"A new study revealed that non-Hispanic blacks have better hearing on average compared to non-Hispanic whites and Hispanic adults in the United States, and that women tend to have better hearing than men."

I can hear up to 20 kHz, but I wish I couldn't, I've given myself a headache.

This was a shot just after I got off stage

The tattoo in between my eyes is fake and just drawn on.

Hehehehe. Note the pipe clamps I am using as rings. Lots of metal and leather. Just the way I like it.

Can you all see why I refer to myself as Zoolander.

Now, can you hear that Aubrey :)

That's not intended to be offensive, so hopefully it's not.

Because you three actually look better than the aforementioned trio of famous persons.

Is my rump covered yet?

Here is a link to a video of a news report about the ring tone that adults can't hear, but kids can:

"A news report about the cell phone ring tone adults can't hear, including an interview with it's creator."
