https://en.wikipedia...teroid_activity

Supposedly DHEA activates neurotrophin receptors and has neurotrophic effects.

I have tried both beta-nerve growth factor (quite expensive) intranasal and DHEA intranasal but the DHEA intranasal, even when disolved in DMSO, has no effect.

Why does intranasal DHEA have no discernible effects whatsoever?

Absorption I suppose. Maybe it’s too big a molecule to pass through membranes. Why not orally?

Orally you don't get the effect. The same is true for other hormones like pregnenolone, estradiol, etc., which have different effects based on administration route.

DHEA has a molar mass of 288.424 g/mol so I think it can easily pass through the mucus membranes.

Very true, you can try a micronized version though, that gets past first-pass metabolism.

Try sublingual DHEA. Given enough time to absorb it works quite well for me. Keep in mind it seems to be pro-synaptic pruning which is more useful in autism, antagonizing BDNF and agonizing the p75 neurotrophin receptor which acts in opposition to BDNF to promote synaptic pruning.
