Hey Guys,

What do you guys think about doing EMDR even though the trauma happened 16 years ago, is it worth digging it up even though I've moved on with my life? I mean, I've moved on with a really deep scar because it happened in my 20th and it got my life upside down (forever) and I don't know what to get out of a 2-3 year EMDR treatment. Also, because of my diagnoses back then (schizophrenia, now PTSD) they never listened to my story, if they did, my life would probably be (positively) different in so many ways I just don't know why I should go through hell again because of their negligence all these 16 years (a lot of other scarring things happened over those passed years).

Thoughts?

Anyone did EMDR for trauma? Pro's/cons?

Anyway since it's bumped I might as well give an update.

I had a psychotic PTSD episode not even a month ago which I'm still recovering from.

This time it were not my enemies (which caused the crime/trauma) but my family members in the lead role, whom I have verbally "attacked" and accused. I pretty much damaged all my family-ties forever due to the past psychotic-PTSD episode.

17 years negligence of (both my family and) the psychiatry has caused my future to live (and maybe die) alone in a open institution for the mentally ill.

If someone had a trauma before getting schizophrenia/PTSD I would highly recommend to FORCE the psychiatry to listen to your story and get the RIGHT treatment RIGHT AWAY, instead of them just walk all over you that you are just simply schizophrenic (therefore nuts) and prescribe you medication and send you home with no treatment at all (other than talk bullshit with a fucking nurse that doesn't know shit).

I might still go for a EMDR treatment but idk anymore if my life is still worth living with these facts.

My life has gone like the character of Tim Robbins in the movie Mystic River from Clint Eastwood.

If your trauma memories are clear, then EMDR will probably help. Regarding psychotic symptoms maybe this post I wrote here could help you:

https://www.longecit...ndpost&p=894391

From all those options I would recommend meditation the most, because it will lead to strong Gamma Increases after a while. Download Daniel Ingrams Book: Mastering the Core teachings of the Buddha  (e.g. from here)

http://libgen.gs/ads...2505714a9954081

Read it and go to his forum Dharmaoverground here:

https://www.dharmaoverground.org/

use the search option to search for Schizophrenia and Psychosis

Read through the practice threads there, there are specific really good ones (you have to find them!) about getting rid of pretty severe psychosis symptoms through meditation, but it will take a few years. The good thing about this is that you don't need anything but yourself and some time to do this.

Also here a small video I incidentially watched yesterday:

Also don't think too much about your relationship to your family, if they basically abandoned you because you are sick, they sound like narcissists anyway. If you have any questions you can DM me. Good luck!
