I live in Europe and find Biotivia.com really good for supplements.

... the remaining stuff not available or only at ridiculous high prices I import from vitacost or iherb. Where the generic handling fee of 13,- Euro, 10% import taxes for shipments below 150,- Euro, 20% above that, in combination for example with iherb's weight limit of 3 pounds and $ 80,- for shipments to Austria add up again. And due to long processing time at customs, this takes at least one month to arrive.

... You wrote that you can only order small to Austria, - today they have a "Limited time offer: Free International Airmail for orders over $40.00" which is pretty sweet. Obviously you can't get everything you want with the International Airmail option, but still free shipping for a couple bottles of your favourites can't be ignored.
(Ordering within Europe shipping alone is usually at least $10, + the supplements are overpriced compared to the US)

Thought so too, and ordered 3 parcels with stuff which wouldn't allow much more in one order due to its weight - each for just above 40 bucks. If that really turns out that sweet still depends on Austrian customs, because $40 is just slightly above where taxes might kick in. Which would mean an negligible 10% tax and a not so negligible regular 13,- Euro handling fee for each parcel.

So this order of supplements worth 85,- Euro could at worst incur 44,- additional in fees - more than 50% more! :-(
Therefore in this case I had to speculate with the excessive demands on our custom officers, otherwise I better would have paid for the regular shipping of $4 each parcel, and stayed below the tax limit...

It's 22 Euros IMHO =~ 32$

Thanks for the correction, but in my experience Austrian customs already turned a blind eye on shipments up to 50 Euros.

Ordered countless times from vitacost and iherb the last 2 years, and both proved to be equally reliable.

Only once last year a bottle TMG worth 10 bucks from iherb was confiscated by customs, because it allegedly would have required an medicine import-permit. However, received the remaining parcel. And never anything was lost.

Well, this 3 orders without shipping costs from iherb turned out semi-sweet:

All 3 ordered on August 17th, 2 arrived comparatively fast on Sept. 2nd. (2 weeks only!). Next on Sept. 19th came an unrelated previous shipment ordered on July 30th (~7 weeks). Finally the 3th parcel arrived today (8 weeks).

The 2 parcel coming that late wasn't the mistake of iherb (or delaying Austrian customs) but 'DHL global' probably though my supplements would better see a bid of the world before getting devoured and send them on a round the world trip via Australia first.

Luckily, no additional custom fees though..

I believe Jarrow's
liquid Biosil is also from bamboo.
http://www.betterlif...p?prod_id=10133

At this time their liquid silica, Jarrowsil, is sourced from sand, according to an email I just got from the company. The labeling information looks similar to Biosil, which is now sold by another company.

I found that Jarrowsil was helpful and caused no negative effects, but I got more of a benefit from Cola de Caballo by Amazon Therapeutics, an organic silica supplement made of the extract of Giant Horsetail ferns growing in the Amazon rain forest. It is a liquid and contains a minor amount of alcohol. I buy it from Vitacost. Swanson's didn't have it the last time I checked. I prefer dealing with Vitacost to dealing directly with the manufacturer or another US mail order retailer than has it.

I had also tried Nature's Way horsetail capsules. They only really worked when I simmered them in water for twenty minutes and filtered them through a coffee filter, and put the resulting gel in the frig to take. I probably described the process elsewhere on this site. You could google it. I didn't feel that the silica was available in the original form. It also gave me indigestion.

Haven't tried bamboo for silica yet. Anyone else have any experiences with it? Any particular brand or form that you recommend?
