Looking at your avatar I just wanna yell "Get out of the sun!"

It's good to see that your moving focus towards better nutrition as opposed to focus on the supps. It's quite easy to place to much attention on the supps and to lose focus on creating good nutritious food.

Re. cutting the adaptogens out......are you cutting them all out? Dietary factors that cause a hormetic response are very important IMO. Some adaptogens are very hard to get from the diet. For example, rhodiola and ashwagandha. Both rhodiola and ashwagandha are inexpensive and very effective adaptogens.

Oh and by the way......members should ask Athan about the anti-aging cream that he makes. I imported a batch recently for both me and my girlfriend and it's freakin' awesome. Seriously, in just a few weeks our skin feels and looks amazing. best part is that it's super cheap and basically contains ingrediants that have been scientifically proven to work.

Sorry, I'm going to plug the hell out of you matey because you deserve it. Athan is also donating a large percentage of what he makes to anti-aging org's

Great work. I have to commend you

Check it out

Im glad you like it. I wish I could donate a higher percentage but I am donating 80% of my profit and the other 20% back to the business for growth. I think my partner in the biz is going to donate some of his part too, once i apply a bit more convincing, so the total donated should be on the way up. I am hoping to send some ImmInst's way too but it will take a few months for that to fully develop.

Updated my regimen since I am now on Intermittent Fasting. I have "eat days" and "fast days" defined as 24 hours.

I noticed that at some point Ortho-Core dropped the amount of chlorophyll in their multi so I added 300mg of chlorophyll on eat days.

Where did you get the "Eat day-fast day" idea from? How do you stay on top of things when it's a demanding day and it's your fast day. From what I know of you, you are the sort that tends to always be on the move.

How are you keeping tabs on your health with this change in lifestyle?

It is just a 24 hour window of eating and 24 hour window of not-eating, each separated by sleep. After seeing more of the IF studies come in, I felt like the data gave me a better idea of what IF will do for you and what it won't.

Fast days are the easiest. After the first week of IF, any fasting complications, such as weakness/tiredness, did not exist for me even when working out.

I will be getting semi-annual blood tests but that is about it.

why do you change your regimen for fast days? Specifically the ortho core?

I just started IF last week. I do two days a week. So far I have just been keeping the same supplement schedule every day, although I understand some of them aren't well absorbed w/o food/fat.

In, non supplemented, IF you get all your nutrients every other day, so I take my orthocore with my eat-days to closer mimic the studies done on IF. I would normally take only 3 orthocores a day, but due to IF, I take 6 every other day.

I see you take 2 Grams of Taurine a day. What do you take this for and do you take this on an on-going basis or do you cycle on and off?

I take 1 gram a night for anxiety and sleep with 5 days on and 2 days off.

I take it for general health, kinda like an addition to a multivitamin. If I had to pick a reason, I would say to ensure that I get enough in my diet to help protect my kidney, nerves, and eyes. I only take taurine every other day but note I only eat every other day.

I don't know. I never did dig into all the studies on the multivitamin stuff. I followed those that did. If you do a search, there have been a few ortho vs. lef threads in the past.

More thought was put into Ortho-Core. Despite all the revisions, LE Mix is still at heart a primitive 1980s era formulation. AOR's rationale is given
http://www.aor.ca/in...05_article1.pdf
I use separate pills myself, as it's cheaper and gives more flexibility.

I have started to depend less on OrthoCore and have added a few things, including LEF's oral probiotic. Also, any opinions of adaptogen use concurrent with resveratrol use and IF?

I was just curious if the creatine on the fast days would interfere, since creatine provides energy right. And through fasting we reach a negative energy balance.

Also why do you take the xylitol?

I'll move the creatine to morning and night of eat days, just in case.

I use xylitol for healthy teeth and gums. It is a low-cal sweetener that I put in tea or coffee. It is inexpensive and very effective at reducing damage caused by bacteria in your mouth at a dosage of 12g/day. I also use Crest Pro Health toothpaste, which is about twice as effective as traditional toothpaste, and an Oral B electric toothbrush. I use Listerine after brushing/rinsing right before using the Oral probiotic to try give them a head start. The powdered green tea I drink also helps with oral hygiene and I hope the rumors of Vitamin K helping with plaque are true.

This is basically a replacement for me going to the dentist. If I lived in a country with a different healthcare system, I would go. All of the dentists I have talked to around here look for extra ways to grub money, tell lots of white lies and sometimes black ones, and the atmosphere is horrible. For me, it is worse than going to one of the scam break specialists, speedy oil change places, or a shady mechanic for my car.

I take Vitamin K2 MK4 15mg a day, and my plaques have been slowly but surely receding. I think it may take 6 weeks to see an effect. I've only been taking it for 3 weeks.

I think I'm going to go buy some xylitol. Thanks.

I added silicon (stabilized silicic acid) as I think the research is starting to look better on this one and safety is not a concern.

I also changed a few dosages such as lactoferrin upped to 500mg/day and IP6 upped to 1250mg/day, based off of both good safety data and a review of literature (made me think the new dosages are more appropriate).

Edit: I reversed my decision on silicon since I eat oats every eat day morning and drink two to three beers on these days as well.

I don't think so, but I would like to see any reasoning if this is the case.

Note that I am currently taking 18mg every other day, or 9mg/day. I have to buy the 50mg zincs because it is hard to find low dose zinc in decent price proportions to the larger tabs. So a quarter of a 50mg tab (12.5mg) and what I get from orthocore (5.4mg) comes out to 17.9mg.

I wanted to add a breakdown of timing on my current regimen, as this is how it will likely be for about 6 months until another revaluation.

15-20 mins Before 'breakfast':
One Theanine 100mg
One Lithium Orotate (5mg elemental)
One Pycnogenol 30mg
One magnesium 200mg

With 'Breakfast':
One multivitamin (orthocore)
All the Vitamin K
One fish oil
One Vit C w/ 100mg flavy
One Vitamin E 120iu
The Carotenoid complex
Resveratrol 300mg
One Ginger 550mg
One Lactoferrin 250mg
Probiotic

Between Breakfast and Lunch:
Creatine 3g
One Ashwagandha 450mg
Start Drinking tea with xylitol throughout day
One Cocoa extract 130mg

Lunch:
One Pycnogenol 30mg
One Vit C w/25mg Flavy
One Zinc 15mg total
One CoQ10 30mg
One Aged Garlic and Phytosterols 300mg and 200mg
Probiotic
One Lactoferrin 250mg
One Ginger 550mg
One Fish Oil

Between Lunch and Dinner:
One Magnesium 200mg

Dinner:
One Pycogenol 30mg
One Vit C w/25mg Flavy
One MultiVitamin (orthocore)
One Vit E 120IU
One Fish Oil 1000mg
One Ginger 550mg
One Curcumin 380mg
One Lactoferrin 250mg
Probiotic

Before Bed:
One Blueberry Pomegranate Cocoa
Four IP6 500mg
Melatonin 1.3mg
Oral Probiotic

Next Day 15-20 mins before breakfast:
One Theanine 100mg
One Lithium Orotate (5mg elemental)
One Pycnogenol 30mg
One magnesium 200mg
Creatine 3g

Breakfast:
One Fish Oil 1000mg
One Blueberry Pomegranate Cocoa
One Vit C w/100mg Flavy
One CoQ10 30mg
One Lactoferrin 250mg
One Ginger 550mg
Probiotic

Start 26hour fast later that day, and at night:
Oral Probiotic

Every Tuesday: 14,000IU Vit D

Fast Schedule:
Monday 2PM fast
Tuesday 4PM eat
Wesnesday 2PM fast
Thursday 4PM eat
Friday 2PM fast
Saturday 4PM eat
Sunday Ad lib

Any Concerns?

One thing that looks off and my reasoning: I am taking blueberry pom and cocoa with IP6 one night to increase the absorption of blueberry goodies. Also, resveratrol is for the colon vs. systematic exposure.

I don't see any problems, but you might be able to tweak a little for better absorption. You get a lot more bang for the buck with polyphenols on an empty stomach, so you could, for example, move the resveratrol to the before breakfast section. I like to take all my lipid soluble compounds with my highest-fat meal, which for me is usually dinner. Are you having any trouble keeping your weight up with the IF? What does resveratrol do for the colon, as opposed to systemic?

Good suggestion. I will have to think on it, because one of the reasons I have lots of polyphenols with meals is to prevent lipid oxidation and help with negative postprandial effects. I am also weary of going overboard. I am, however, making a bet on the catechins. My likely move will be the cocoa extract to the first before breakfast list, thanks.

I add fat to meals that are lacking. My response to the fat debate so far is to eat as I normally have, low carbs but still have my oats and a bun or tortilla or an english muffin occasionally , but add more fat via coconut oil or olive oil. I think I average about 100g carbs a day (I have been counting loosely since the carb thread was posted).

As for weight and IF, at first I had trouble when on an every other day schedule. With the additional fats and an ad lib Sunday thrown into the mix, I can maintain weight and stay trim. I think I get in two week cycles of loosing and gaining, but it is hard to tell from the supermarket scale and my imagination.

Maybe others know better on if the effect that resveratrol has on colon cancer cells or its anti-inflammatory actions on the colon is due to systemic actions or not. I added it in at a low dose in hopes that it may have an effect. I am not sure if it is worth it for familial vs. sporadic cancer but the risk seems low. I just wanted to let others know that I am taking it for hopes of action on the colon vs. an IF + resveratrol thing.

Do you take the lactoferring for its antibiotic properties?

Also why do you take theanine?

Lactoferrin for iron binding, antimicrobial (bacterial, viral, and fungal) activity and anti-cancer properties.

Theanine for anti-stress, neuroprotective, and nootropic properties.

Magnesium and lithium compete at receptor sites. Might want to take them apart. Also, isn't lactoferrin best absorbed before meals??
