serum thiamine check useless?

According to this article, thiamine blood tests don't work and you need these other precise tests.

Of course, only one lab in USA offers them.

But they're not really selling anything (the blog).

Is this true?

Just take a B1 supplement and see if you feel better, if not then you're not deficient. Blood tests are a waste of time and money.

From what that site says, if you're thiamine deficient, you'll feel worse when you start taking it even at small doses. The paradox.
