Best way to aid the aging research field?

illerrre's Photo illerrre 27 Apr 2022

Hey guys,

Right now I was hit with this existential crisis. Not the first time, but at the moment hitting me hard.

I'm feeling like the number one priority in life (for me) should be fighting aging. Striving for immortality. Making the utopia come alive.

I'm wondering though what the best approach is.

I'm 34 at the moment and don't have much of an education. Would there even be a slight chance for me to start studying and then get a paid job in the field where I could contribute? I don't think so, but would love to hear what you guys have to say.

What I work with at the moment is utter bullshit. But this bullshit could potentially earn me a lot of money. It may or may not happen. With that money I could support researchers and use my time to study aging as well. It feels like the better option, but then again, if I don't succeed I may not ever get the money required to contribute or even study at the level I would like.

What other options would there be to contribute?

I'm just ventilating here, but would still love to read your replies. Aging sucks and I appreciate life too much to surrender. Fuck :(

If you can, study medicine and become a medical doctor. When you become a doctor, you will earn enough money to support yourself, and eventually invest in aging research. Another option after the medicine may be a second major in genetics, gene engineering or cell biology. The path seems long, but it gives exactly what you want.
