NEW TY COTY GRAPHICS

Posted by JimmyInTexas on December 10, 2002 at 00:48:29

Here you go guys. Congrats to Ty and the team on a great year and a well deserved Coach of the Year selection. Here's to many more wonderful years and memories under coach Ty Willingham. Go Irish!

-Jimmy

Ty Willingham has been named The Home Depot National Coach of the Year.

Willingham is the only ND head coach to win 10 games in his first year at ND.

Willingham was also selected as the Sportsman of the Year by Sporting News. Willingham is the first college football coach to win this Award since it was started in 1968.

Arnaz Battle Named Independence Bowl Foundation Sportsman of the Year (excerpts)

Receiver to be honored in ceremony on Dec. 26.

Dec. 18, 2002

Senior receiver Arnaz Battle has been voted the Independence Bowl Foundation Sportsman of the Year.

"This is a tremendous honor for me," Battle says.

"I have to thank God first and foremost. I also want to thank my family, who without them this would not have been possible, and all of my coaches and teachers at C.E. Byrd High School. It means a lot to me be considered in such company and I am disappointed I will not be able to accept the award in person."

Battle has been a leader for the Irish in 2002 as he has 48 catches for 702 yards and five touchdown passes. His 48 catches this season currently tie him for fifth on the Notre Dame single-season receptions list. Battle was also named the 2002 Westwood One/State Farm Student-Athlete of the Year for the Irish and was voted a team captain by his teammates.

Wow, talk about summoning the dead (thread).

I saw it in a search I did, (didn't even realize it was a thread until then) and the joy I feel about Notre Dame being terrible this year almost makes up for the disappointments in other areas of college football that I feel. ;))

When bobdrake12 made his last post in this thread I was still 23. [lol]

And Nate, let's not talk about sport disappointments right now. I'm a Mets fan. [tung]

Well, in MLB, I am a Braves and Cardinals fan. They are doing even worse. Luckily the Cowboys are having a good year, which is my only saving grace this year. (although I do like college football better than NFL, but I'll take what I can get)

By the way, if you were 23, that must make you 27 now? (or 28 if your birthday falls after February 20 and before October 3)

Please define what you mean by "worse".

Washington Post - Collapse Is Complete, and the Mets Are History

"They have been playing big league baseball for well over a century, and never before, according to record-keepers at the Elias Sports Bureau, had a team failed to make the playoffs after holding a lead of at least seven games as late in a season as Sept. 12, as the Mets did."

Wow, I'm insulted. To think you've never even bothered to check out my profile. [tung]

By "worse" I meant had won fewer games and had lost more games. (overall) Perhaps the Mets have lost more in a row at the end and therefore had what was perceived as a bigger crash, though, as you point out. As a fan, I know it might be worse to do bad at the end like that. I have definitely had some teams do that to me in the past. I am not as big of a fan of baseball as football or basketball, but I can certainly empathize. ;))

Well, I have before, but I forgot what your birthday was. (or that your birthday was even listed) About 6 months older than me it appears..I am going to start having to call you "gramps" now. ;))

I just noticed my birthday was wrong on my profile anyway, heh.

Umm, sorry for the personal dialog on this resurrected thread.

To get back on topic, yes, Notre Dame blows goats right now.
