So I have been trying glynac, which is glycine and nac.  I am combing them myself, by taking nac in pill form and glycine in powder form.  There is a glynac capsule you can buy but it's very costly for what it is.

Anyway, I know glycine is sometimes used as a sleep aid.  I've been taking <1g glycine and 600mg nac (a very low dose compared to the studies), and it's making me so... tired.

Even glycine itself makes me tired.  I'm talking about I take some glynac and I want to take a nap.

The nearest thing I've found to this would be this article which says glycine slows down the brain:

https://www.news-med...depression.aspx

Anyway, there are other mentions of people taking 60g of glycine a day to treat schizophrenia I think.

Geez, 60 a day.

I take 600mg NAC in the morning and 1000mg Glycine before bed - is there any beneficial reason to take them together?

Try taking Glycine before bed.  Many use it as a sleep aid.
