Researchers Made an IQ Test for AI, Found They're All Pretty Stupid (msn.com)

As I have suspected, ai in its present form is not the super intelligent thing that will break loose from human control and run the world the way it wants to or to destroy humanity. Its so far just a jazzed up computer and does not have "common sense" which humans and even animals possess.

While it blazes through math problems and understands speech well, its reasoning abilities are lacking. For example, it was given this riddle

“What is the first name of the father of Sebastian’s children?”

Almost all people, even children can answer this one but it stumped chatgpt. It relies on searching its database for facts about "sebastian", since it has no data about this sebastian it can't answer.

Computers have always had the ability to pull up tons of info, provided that info is in their memory or can be accessed online. They can solve complex math problems in minutes or seconds that would take days or years doing by hand. This has lead people to think they were smart but they were merely following instructions in their programming. Now we have computers that can self program to a degree but while they can do more than a 'dumb' computer, they too show no signs of real intelligence

What we have now is an artificial idiot savant. It can talk well, has all the abilities computers always had, and now it can do more but its still a "rainman" or idiot savant in many ways. One researcher said it did not rise to the intelligence of a cat using real world situations

This is what half the world is trembling in their shoes over? It will take everyones job and people will commit suicide en masse since their work is the only thing that makes life worth living? Right now, about the only new jobs it will take over include customer service where its language abilities shine brightly. For actual problems beyond the script, they will need human backups but in time less and less people will be needed.

No one seems to believe we will adapt to the changes and eventually hail them as great labor savers. Every new technology has been met with fear from the auto to the telephone, gunpowder, rockets, internet, nukes etc yet all have turned out to make life better rather than worse

True artificial intelligence will come little by little. They have a sandbox version now, embrace the change and make it work for you
