According to Caliban:

Pinning is reserved for official notices, and -rarely!- for permanently relevant reference topics.
Topics should not be pinned simply because they are interesting.
Such topics can be 'bumped' of 'recommended' as staff pick but not pinned.
If you recommend a topic, please make sure that it is taken down after ~2 weeks.

This guidance is current policy and was affirmed a number of times at management meetings, but obviously the issue is open for discussion here.

I think a case can be made that the price watch should be pinned, in that it is more than interesting, it is useful. I've not discussed it with him yet.

At 500mg/day - 2 capsules - a one month supply would only cost $18.99

I've not seen any lower price

Is "Resverapure" a 50% or 98-99% extract? No mention of potency in the link.

I dont think it is, it may be but still have a high emodin content, in which case most people wouldnt use it for very long. I always think that buying the best in terms of purity micronization, and low-emodin content is prudent in the long run.

I think Whole Health resveratrol can be labeled as 50%:

http://dietarysupple...amp;pageD=brand

quoting "Our Extra-Strength Resveratrol contains 650mg of total resveratrol, but what is more important is that it contains 325mg of trans-resveratrol." besides, I bought one bottle and the powder in the capsule is brown

From what I have read here, some people can tolerate the lesser purity, high emodin content. Now that cutting edge, state of the art Resveratrol and Quercetin is available, I cant see why anyone would purchase anything less.

In whole health site I became convinced the capsules had only trans-resveratrol, only later I discovered it was 50%...

Yes, not all supplements are created equally. Everyone starts some where, when I first started supplementing lots of product got thrown out or was returned. Its phenomenal how many Resveratrol products there are. I wonder what there actual sales vs. loss is and if some of them will still be in business a year from now.

Hi Anthony,

I'm going to ask it here because i wont get an answer in the other Resveratrol (not direct activator of SIRT1) topic. It seems like that study renders the in vitro testing of SIRT1 activation rather useless. Even if that is not the conclusion one can draw from one study or the study in general, the addition of the SIRT1 column is nothing more than marketing. It makes the list not so independent as it should be. There should be no room for marketing in this list.

I think Maxwatt has mentioned this previously:
http://www.imminst.o...o...st&p=362664

Should this column be replaced by "Company Offers COA" or something else that might be important to the community?

Cheers

No problem drmz,

Let me work on the price watch list a bit to see if I find COAs some of these company websites.
It doesn't look promising for most of them, but give me a week or so to go through this exercise.

Hi Anthony,

Natural Factors has a NEW resveratrol product called "ResveratrolRich" which retails for $49.95 (USD)

look-y here:

Natural Factors, ResveratrolRich, Super Strength, 60 Veggie Caps

http://www.iherb.com...Caps/21271?at=0

and look-y here too:

http://www.naturalfa...centrate-500-mg

NF states they ..."remove 99% of the emodin..." (well now, isn't that nice of them, eh? :))

This seller on ebay is selling high purity trans-resveratrol for 29.99$ for a two bottle order. That is 120 500 milligram 98% (according to the seller) resveratrol capsules for 29.99$! Either 2 or 4 months, depending on if you take 500 or 1000 milligrams.

That's cheap. LMAO with those testimonials. Probably they came straight out of the marketing for dummies book :)

Thank you ever so much. I feel younger already, I saw the report on 60 minutes about Resveratrol, but didn't want to pay those crazy prices. Your product is priced right and it works.
Mary D, La.

As a respected personal trainer, I reccomend this to all of my clients. It's not safe to drink wine after a hard workout, using your product my clients can get all the resveratrol they need, without having a drink.
Terry G, Ny.

I've bought other product from you in the past, so far I've lost weight and feel great!
Now that I'm using the Resveratrol, the winkles are going away and every is asking me what my secert is!

We cant seem to get away from the "snake oil type of hype" regarding this product, eventually it will clear away. I wouldnt purchase the product mentioned, at this point there is only one place on the list that I would order from.

Despite the verbiage in the seller's ad, a close inspection of the label shows it's a 50% product. Buyer beware.

Yea I actually noticed that as well upon further investigation. It is still a 'decent' buy for 50% but I would rather go with the heavy metal tested revgen stuff.

Exactly, why use inferior product? The general public doesnt realize that all supplements are not created equal.

How about the trans-resveratrol from NSI?
http://www.vitacost....tarian-Capsules

$1.29/g to my calculations, although I'm rather new to this.

Looks like 98% pure extract, but it doesnt say extract of what, doesnt list emodin content and is not micronized. I dont know, some people may have luck with it, moderately priced but I have never heard of the company.

Surprisingly enough, they claim it's 98%. Not a bad price for capped 98%, retail. Purity?

NSI is the Brand name that Vitacost uses on it's own products.

Note: you can't seem to buy it from other companies that typically carry a myriad of products, such as iHerb or Relentless Improvement.

I understand the business model is to bring folks in by advertising the big name brands, then once on their website, they advertise the heck out of their own NSI brand undercutting the name brand's in price while doing it... but I don't see any COA's anywhere on the website like Relentless Improvement has, maybe I'll order some and test it.

I will add them to the list this week, as I am still checking websites and their COAs.

Cheers

Uploaded new sheet.
Added COA column, and will be updating it more over the weekend as I am trying a new format and using the "Price per 100mg" column to easily compare against Consumer Reports... <oops...> I meant Consumer Labs resveratrol price list, for folks that have access to that one.

Let me know if you guys find COA's that this list should be linked to. I will add more COA links over the weekend as well.

Cheers
A

P.S. I know there are a couple links that have issues, I am working on getting them fixed, thanks.

I contacted that ebay seller and this is what he had to say.

'Hi, my apologies for taking so long to get back to you. Yes this product is tested for emodin and heavy metals. It is actually produced to be low emodin. The most recent test showed only 1.94% Emodin, and less than 10parts per million of heavy metals. (Anything over 7% in Emodin content, could cause diarrhea) HLPC testing also verifies that this contains 50% trans-resveratrol. Documents are on file if needed. Thanks Jay'

So I told him the documentation would be necessary so that other people I knew could buy in confidence. Now I await the documentation.

I will use these COA's, and add Biotivia to the list before I leave to NY for Christmas.
(Yes I have to be nuts to go freeze up north and leave Miami, but ... alas, my wife has already promised her family we would visit.)

Many thanks TheHuge for posting the COA's for the members.
