Darn, just missed it. I don't have that kind of money to be spending on something that my limited palate would not be able to appreciate anyhow.I didn't realize how expensive it was till I did a froogle search for it. Wow. (Even more striking if you sort by price, high to low. Someone needs to buy me that $17,551 bottle.)
Some people actually buy insurance for it. Here's the best price/performance bottle for you LiveForever. Get your bid in quick, only 20 minutes...

We can work something out. I'll send some of them over to your place to sample your cuisine.Wow that's a lot of coke and hookers. Do they like strawberries, asian pears, Aboslut vodka and mint chocolate? I ask because that's what I'm eating with my Salmon and Feature #4 pasta and I have extra. Perhaps I could barter?

Start with Mint Chocolate, an Asian Pear, Strawberries, Soy milk (not shown, duh) & Raspberry Absolut...
Then plop the chocolate into a saucier pan...
Pour in some soy milk. Let that boil (go cut up your pear if you haven't) stir. Once the chocolate is a good consistency add a dash of the Absolut...
Pour on and presto...
Heaven. Goes well with the Salmon & some red wine.

You need to start a restaurant or something, maestro. That or just make me some food. (as long as there isn't any of that stuff in the first post in it)

Anytime you're in the Boston area, swing by and I'll steam up some veggies for you.
I think I found the answer to my elixir. I kid you not. It's called Miracle Fruit. It turns steely tastes into a sweet taste. At a $1.80 / fruit + the fact that it goes bad within 24 hours doesn't bode well. In Japan you can buy it in pill format for $3.50 ea. Still looking for local sources but it sounds like the FDA banned it to help out the artificial sweetener industry back in the 70s. Unfortunately it's a tropical plant or I'd try growing it. Note to self: Move to tropics.

It will grow indoors, These people will ship it to you, and say it will fruit within a year.
Suggest you use accuweather to check the weather in the part of africa where the plant grrows (Ghana); when it rains there, water and mist the plant. Also adjust your thermostat accordingly.

Heh, I thought of that but then I'd want 12 rooms and lots of juice such that I could adjust the day/night cycle so I could have a crop cycle every month. Hurry up solar panel tech! I'd love to simply grow all my own plants and then extract out the relevent properties out of them.

They sell seeds, still encased in the fruit, for $1.84 apiece. A little pricey, but if you can afford the Chateau Margeaux it should be no problem. (Personally I prefer Cheval Blanc. )
You can buy 10 seeds from Thailand for $3.99 on ebay. The germination rate is about 25%.

You could build a small greenhouse outside. (assuming you live in a house and not a condo or apartment)Heh, I thought of that but then I'd want 12 rooms and lots of juice such that I could adjust the day/night cycle so I could have a crop cycle every month. I could but unfortunately I just spent the last few years terraforming my back yard into daylily garden and there's no room left with any sun exposure.
Darn it. The roof? (of course your neighbors might give you funny looks if you had rows of plants under glass growing on your roof)

I want to try that miraculin now too
from http://www.barzelay....it_provider.php
The guy from whom I got the miracle fruit (a.k.a. my dealer) was very nice and called me today to make sure everything had gone well with the miracle fruit. I asked him whether it was alright if I gave out his contact info, and he said that would be great. He's quite the zealot. In his words, "Some day there will be miracle fruit in every household!"
He charged actual overnight shipping charges from Ft. Lauderdale, FL ($18.80 to D.C.), plus $5 handling. Then it was $1 per fruit. I got 75 fruits, so my total order came to $98.80, and I paid him by Paypal. Here's how to get your very own miracle fruit. I suspect that he had no idea how inundated he was going to be, but oh well. He posted his contact info here, anyway, so here goes:
Curtis Mozie 410 SW 29th Terrace Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33312 U.S.A.

Miracle fruit trees, fruit, and seeds or seedlings available by request.
