I definately have to shop around for my organic meats - Organic produce is also often a pain and I sacrifice certain fruits and veggies simply because of the cost involved

I wouldn't be able to support my organic lifestyle if Trader Joe's wasn't in my area

Trader Joe's is my favorite store! My dad actually wanted to start up a store out here in Ohio before any Trader Joe's were even anywhere besides the southwest. At the time, they didn't want to have stores in the midwest. Now, they are everywhere.

Its really funny because I'm looking to move at the end of next month - I basically popped open the Trader Joe's map and looked at it as a list of potential areas

If an area didn't have a TJ's...I don't know how I could eat
I pay 5.99 for Organic Extra Virgin Olive from Italy - Anywhere else it's $15
I also love the unsweetened White and Green Tea they sell by the gallon

I don't have any TJs in my area. Lots of Sam's, BJs and so on but no TJs.

BJs

I have lots of BJs in my area too. I think I am using a different abbreviation than you, though. :))

After shopping at Trader Joe's I went to my first Whole Foods market a few years back...I couldn't beleive the prices.

Whole foods had an awesome selection of fresh produce and Meats, (Which TJ's is not very good at) but the prices were insane.

Comparative non-perishable items were 2-3 times the cost of TJ's

I thought they were a great company until I walked into one of their stores...TJ's ruined me, I can't drink the Whole Foods Kool-Aid.

Organic food needs to become more affordable for the less affluent and as a corporation who "defines" the marketplace, they seem dedicated to keeping prices as high as possible.

In Russia, it is illegal to grow foods with pesticides. The olive oil used to be cheaper at TJ's instead of Whole Foods. Now it is a dollar cheaper at Whole Foods. This site says why organic foods are better. Organic Foods Better

I dont take it seriously if its just labelled 'organic'. I only take notice if it says it is certified organic and has a stamp number or similar on it. Even better if its 'fair traded' as it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling :) :p
