maybe the American audience will really attach themselves to the program and in turn will help the support grow substantially.

Just tell them that just like Evolution, Aging is only a theory, and both sides need to be heard. That should get the majority of the American population on side.

Of course, once we have ageing fixed we will need to sort out the problem with having a world full of immortal idiots, but we have to prioritise.

I think it's the same scenario like someone from ancient times felt when predicting the humans would eventually gain longer lifespans through proper health-care, they were probably bitter/annoyed that there would be idiots living to be 75+ years old.

Lets not forget that generally speaking, the more humans are informed, the less idiotic they tend to be. I think it might allow people to breathe a sigh of relief when you consider that the burden of getting old will no longer be growing in the back of your consciousness.

Who all has pre-ordered the book, and who all is waiting till it is actually released?

What do you guys think of putting a link on the front page (at least temporarily) to the amazon page to promote it?

good idea [thumb]

I'm going to talk to the local barnes & noble (I used to work there) :-D about setting up a table in the front of the store where everyone will see it, a stand with just this book.

Aubrey, is it possible with your schedule to do signings at large booksellers like Barnes across the country? at least while you're in the states? I think that will really help drum up some great publicity for the cause.

Hi All,

I contacted of my favorite libraries offering to donate a copy of Ending Aging. I mentioned that Aubrey will be on Good Morning America on September 17th. The library has two sites. After the librarians consulted each other, they checked out the Amazon site then decided that they would match my book contribution, by purchasing another copy or copies so both libraries would have.

They also want to put a display with the book and info about Aubrey and his work in the front of both libraries.

So I need to pull together some good info for the display.

I immediately sent a request to Kevin for info :)

Any suggestions appreciated.

This is a great idea. Im going to call my libraries too. I think that they will buy a copy if I just suggest it maybe right? What kind of info would you put on a library display with the book? Any sens phamlets out there that are particularily well suited for this? Do you think maybe the libraries and book stores may be willing to put a color poster in their windows for advertisement?

Hi All,

I posted a note about Ending Aging for libraries at The Methuselah Foundation Forums.

I uploaded a PowerPoint briefing trying to summarize the whole effort:

"The Rationale, Progress, and Prospects"

It was designed for librarians but could be useful for others.

Also posted was an announcement poster for Aubrey’s upcoming Good Morning America appearance.

Please let me know of comments and suggestions for improvement.

Thanks

Consider writing up an Amazon.com review draft and posting it here for comment before submitting it at Amazon.com

Mine came the other day! Very sorry to say that I'm finishing the last Harry Potter first :) but I'll start on 'Ending Aging' shortly! (Harry Potter was good for 8.5 miles on the treadmill one day :) makes me re-consider my stance on only reading non-fiction ;) )

Does anybody even go to the library anymore? I don't even like books that don't come as a searchable PDF.

I'm probably not going to read this cover to cover as I doubt I'm the targeted audience - I'm already in the boat. However I am looking forward to reviews though, particularly from those that are new to the meme. We should start a blog watch and post any links we find to the non-koolaid drinkers.

I haven't been to a library in over 5 years - the internet has much more easily accessed material...I'm probably going to read most of it, but I'll skip some things that I've heard often in Aubrey's talks. I'm also looking forward to the reviews, hopefully it'll be generally positive and interest those not already subscribing to Aubrey's theories and projections.

Personally, I'll always take a hard copy over a .PDF. The day the newspaper comes only in an e-mail will be the day I stop reading the newspaper.

Library? wasn't there an ancient building with relics which they called "books" found and was called a "library"? ;)

The types of people that go to libraries are the types of people that probably would never have heard of life extension technologies before.

I still enjoy the look and *feel* of books in their traditional form...guess I'm an old-timer. Being able to search/skim through PDF books is sometimes useful, but often I like to read a book from cover to cover (if it's a worthwhile book).

Funny that most of you guys don't go to the library anymore. I probably stop by the library at least every other weekend. 2 1/2 hrs+ of commuting on public transit every day gives me plenty of leisure time to read. Plus, the library systems here in NY/NJ allow you to reserve books from anywhere in your county (I think that's pretty standard now) so you get a really good selection and can find almost any book you're looking for.
