I've read on numerous places that working out in the morning will increase your energy level for the day. The problem I have is if I do moderate excersise, 30 minutes jogging, it really tires me out until the next day. What I do right now is every couple of days I'll do that in the evening.

What are good excerises for the morning that is strenious enough to create energy but not too much to tire you completely out?

you might have adrenal problems like me cause I jog in the morning and have to take breaks from it from time to time.

And it could just be the result of several factors. I can't tell but if you haven't been jogging in a while, 30 minutes is sort of long. So say if you're getting sore just from jogging, you're probably going either too long or too fast. But ideally you shouldn't need to do any morning exercise beyond stretching or calisthenics, if that, to have generally more energy, unless you're presently controlling body composition. It is perhaps near foremost that your reticular activating system needs wheedling. For a starting guideline.

yeah that can be a problem for some. My partner has hypoglycemia and needs to be switched on for work. She is afraid of working out in the morning in case it makes her absent minded at work.

I guess all you need to do is to make sure that you have time to eat a good meal afterwards. Also you may just be a little unfit and hence need to keep at it for a little while longer

if it wipes you out, eat something very light/and or/ a shake before doing it, then eat a good breakfast afterwards.

In the morning I'm too lazy to go swim or run somewhere. But I can run like a hamster on a treadmill no problem.

thats what I do.

working out/running used to wipe me out & make me feel nauseous. the problem was not having eaten before... im not hypoglycemic at all, but either a very small shake 20-30 minutes before of a full meal 2-3 hours before and a full meal afterwards completely eliminated that problem.

when i work out in the morning... about 30 minutes before my workout i have:

4-5 ounces of juice (10g sugar)
scoop of BCAA
1/2 scoop of whey (10g)
3g creatine malate

then i come home and eat breakfast... works like a charm. now after working out i feel mentally sharp and awake.

When I work out in the morning, I have to eat first... (that is a good breakfast ajnast4r) I skip breakfast if I'm not working out.

I totally agree Aj. Do not skip breakfast. That's one meal you don't want to skip.

Shannon, perhaps try something light like a shake with a little protein and oatmeal/seeds and nuts

I take half my breakfast, along with my morning supplement regimen, wait 30 minutes (no less), exercise, then eat the rest of breakfast.

I don't before eat at all. I get up at 6am, go jogging around the village for 30 minutes and then eat an apple or pear on my hour-walk to college.

What about the Warrior Diet?

It gives you the Warrior Instinct and the Warrior Stance. As long as you're willing to drink the Warrior Milk.

My Recommendation: Swimming!

I've recently taken up swimming before classes in the mornings and it's doing wonders for my energy levels throughout the day. While most of my classmates are barely awake for 8:30 classes I'm fully alert and ready to go. I've tried jogging in the mornings but like you would be tired out for the day shortly after. I've found swimming to be a fantastic low impact, full body, cardio workout that I go to sleep looking forward to doing the next morning.

I also like to think that doing it in the morning rather than later in the day gives my metabolism a boost. Can't cite any sources on that though--any truth to this?

You might try a more passive exercise like Yoga, Tai Chi or some variation of stretching. That's what many animals do when they wake up.

Animals do Tai Chi? ... When they wake up in the morning? :-D

Sorry, I know what you mean but misreading the above was just about the funniest thing I have heard all week.

Thanks for pointing that out. It invokes quite a visual. My face is now broken from laughing!
