Some people seem to respond to one over the other. But looking at the issue on paper, effectiveness shouldn't be affected as long as actual glucosamine levels are equalized.

Glucosamine Sulfate (also known as Glucosamine Sulphate) is the form that has been tested in dozens of clinical trials. It is very similar to glucosamine HCL (hydrochloride) in effectiveness, because the sulfate is simply a carrier molecule for the actual glucosamine. Another popular form of glucosamine is known as glucosamine HCL, or hydrochloride. Some studies have shown the HCL to be more effective and some have shown the sulfate to be more effective, so it would be prudent to either try both individually (probably not the most cost effective option) and see which one works better for you, or ideally simply find a product that contains both HCL and Sulfate.

I wasn't necessarily wrong. Shepard's response was accurate. Missminni, you should experiment with a sulfate version in order to see if you need as much for a positive effect to take place.

Okay, just so you stop thinking somehow I'm not getting any effect from the glucosamine. I don't have arthritis.
The glucosamine is NOT my issue. I don't have any arthritic joint pain. It is my dog who does. He is the one who needed that much to
exhibit results, as well as my dad, who has arthritis, and my friends mom, in her late 70's, who also has arthritis and they were
using glucosamine sulfate as far as I know. So please, just forget about it.
