Hi Karen, I'm doing a vegan version of CR too for the last year and a half. About 2 years of CR total. I've been trying to balance my protein intake 1/3 from tofu, 1/3 from beans and spinach/broccoli, and 1/3 from quorn, beancurd sheet & misc.

Is quorn vegan? I thought it had egg in it...

My protein is 15%, 34% fats, 61% carbs.

That adds up to over 100%.

Right on both counts. I noted the vegan-egg-quorn issue in my CR diet thread, but neglected to correct it here. And the 61% carbs should be 51% carbs to add up to 100%. Fat fingers (NOT!).

I eat approximately 2,000 calories per day which is a little high for most CR people. However I need those extra calories because my job requires physical work plus I lift weights every other week. My weight is stable at 150 pounds but I am hungry all the time. The only thing that keeps my stomach full is the 2 giant piles of raw vegetables that I eat every day. For a CR person I have a lot of muscle which I attribute to my weight training and work.

I practice CR to improve my health, not necessarily extend my lifespan. However if it extends my lifespan that will be a bonus. I'm 42 years old and I'd love to reach 100.

Side note: Before CR I had borderline high blood pressure even though I was physically active and relatively thin. A few weeks ago I had my blood pressure checked and I was 106 over 72. CR works.

Are you serious? You really try to eat 1200 calories per day? I don't know how you can do it.

How much do you weigh?

Yes I am serious.

I am 68 inches tall and weigh210.

Over a year ago I did CR for six months and dropped 25 pounds.

I am currently trying to do that again and maintain it, because I have gained it all back.

6-8 teeny meals per day does it.

Ok, I see where you are coming from. If you can stick to 1200 calories you will lose every pound of fat... and then some.

By comparison I'm 5'8" as well but I weigh 150 pounds and have virtually no body fat left. I eat 2,000 calories per day and I'm always a little bit hungry. I own what is essentially a landscaping company so I do a lot of physical work every day. If I had an office job I probably could eat less and still maintain my weight. But in my current situation if I eat less than 2,000 I begin to look like a P.O.W. in WW2.

I eat 1950 kcal/day. 40 year old female, BMI 16. I eat more fat and protein than most CR diet plans I've seen. But how could I stay at my weight if I cut down on that? Can't eat a bale of vegetables. I may have to increase my food intake, since I still loose some weight. People constantly tell me I look anorectic.

I walk my dog for 60-100 minutes per day, that's the exercise. I am 184 cm tall (about 6 feet?) maybe that's an explanation how a female could eat as much.

I do not freeze, I am not hungry, I have no hyperthyreosis (in fact, my tests have shown slight subclinical HYPOthyreosis for some years, but I feel better since I started CRON).

A dietist once told me a normal intake for me, was 3 500 kcal per day. Maybe that's correct. But it sure feels like a lot.

Well, I will log off for now, and walk my dog ^_^ Glad to find this forum! Hope I can find the time and motivation to stay. My goals are: feeling better (which I REALLY do) and living longer (still has to see what happens... :D)

How are people eating 900-1200 calories per day for those who are men and not compromising any thyroid or hormonal deficiency or driving the leptin slow... ?

I eat about 2k to 2.4 k a day... but I intermittent fast daily, for 18-20 hours. (IF is very natural to how I've always wanted to eat my entire life anyways) Studies shows IF to be as effective as CR in regards to longevity extension, but without the harsh caloric restriction. I'm a very active person (important for my mental and physical health) and enjoy weight lifting. IF just feels far superior to CR in every way...seems like a much better way to live for my needs.

I spent the last week on a similar routine, eating all my calories within a 5-6 hour window between 12 PM and 6 PM.  It seems pretty good for the metabolism.

1550-1600 calories per day, BMI 19.8

(Physical exercise is negligible at the moment; I am both very busy and very lazy, but I better do something about it, I know.)

Apparently the majority of us eat a little more than people from Sub-Saharan Africa. I actually eat less than the Bangladesh seamstress and weigh more (she weighs 85 lbs at 20). I wonder how I'll match against her if she had access to first world healthcare.

I have a hard time eating many calories these days. Like, i eat fish every morning, may or may not eat rice, anyway that ends up being like 700 calories. Then i might force myself to get more calories by having a banana smoothie with a shit tonne of peanut butter, and if i add a few pieces of chicken i can reach like 1600-1700 but I feel like i don't do that enough. Someone please tell me how to increase my cals, worried I'm not getting enough, I think my depression is killing my appetite or something. It's taking me a full hour just to eat this fish and rice right now. I hope there's some piece of evidence i missed saying that I'm actually eating enough.... (28y/o male, 5'11, currenly 135 lbs)
