Internetworking Team
brokenportal 27 Jan 2009
We list digg, twine, blog, video, articles and outside forums topic links to 6 lists in the projects wiki location so that we can raise discussion and cause link backs in all the spaces of the internet that have yet to have this causes light fully shine on them. We encourage you to check this project out, share it amongst the life extensionists you know and if you can then join today.
Read through the description and the guidelines for the project on line 39 at the imminst wiki and join here: http://imminst.org/w...index.php/LEEEP
*This topic is going to get a more formal standard looking format at some point.

As I posted in the thread I just mentioned, what I feel is needed from the "higher-ups" is a quality list of references such as videos and articles related to the cause. For example, the individual ustream videos, TED videos, and countless articles that I've seen posted on this very forum from users. We could make this a sub-goal of the project. I could start it off by scanning the forums for articles and videos that users have posted. But for the more "official" stuff I feel that we need the help of the board members and people with direct access to important videos and articles.
I don't have time to do this now, but I had to post this while I was thinking about it. I'll try to get started tomorrow after I'm off school, but for now I hope this thread will get good response in the meantime.

I already transferred some of the main topics to a wiki page, but I wasn't sure which one's to put or in what format.
Yes, the experimenting with the wiki has been very informative and helpful in moving this along. You have also been very helpful in inspiring this project to move along in general. The whole list will be plugged in to the wiki in a very precise way, much of which is still being examined and worked out. We may go with the format you have or some combination of it and things we've been working on.
This is a quote moved from another topic to keep that topic on track.
One thing I'm trying to get going now is getting together a list of videos and articles that support the cause. For example, the many ustream videos, TED videos, or other articles that members post every day. We could compile that list on the wiki page or in a thread. I'm thinking of starting a thread titled something like "Post your favorite imminst videos and articles here" and then take those contributions and add them to a wiki page. I'll probably do this very soon. What do you think?
Ive been thinking about this list of in depth videos and articles that you and others have been talking about. This project incorporates anything from topics that are short blurbs about the cause to long deep and researched articles on the cause. Having a list of just good articles like that that you and others are talking about is a great idea. So Ive been shuffling these ideas around in my head, trying to think if you should split the project off, or if its covered here. I think its covered here, but of course Im open to suggestion, and if you or anybody wants to split it off further and develop it somewhere else in the forums or an outside web page or a blog or something then of course I support that too.
Anyways, it occurs to me that I think this linking of well written articles and well put together videos and conference clips and stuff is covered by the digg category. For those that work with the Internetworking Team that want to work with the digg list, we should only be linking those kinds of things there. Besides raising awareness for those articles and things by adding them to digg and setting them up for us all to constantly digg, that list will also become a list of those things for reference else where.
As for making a post requesting articles and videos and stuff like that, thats where team recruitment comes in. Rather than do that, another purpose of this team is to build the team membership. If you start a topic like the one you suggest, I might use it as a recruiting topic for the team. Then when people post suggestions, go and make a pitch to them, you know like, "hey, thats a great link, you seem to have some insight on spotting these kinds of things. We are adding these to the internetworking team. If you have time I can give you a tour of it right now." Then have them open the team wiki page and have them meet you in the chat room to go through it, or something like that. This is just a suggestion, you tell me, what do you think? This is what occurs to me.
Im also seeing that we should add a change to the rules. They state that we shouldnt link to a list of 5 main longevity communities, but Im seeing that we should probably write in an exception for the digg list. The list of rules will probably be broken up into a set of rules for each individual list as time goes on. Ill check into that more tomorrow. The rules are fine for now but they will evolve as this project moves along.

Adding a few hundred links of initial substance to this team will help encourage our first 10 or so team members to join. Although, you dont have to be an official team member to work with this team. You can add links any time you want. One suggestion is, when you have time, offer matching efforts like this one. Tell people youll go add 3 if they go add 3, etc...

The first project to make the official move from the LEEEP rough draft in google docs that many of us have been working with, to the imminst wiki, is the “Internetworking Team” project. Most of the projects will be keeping their corresponding numbers in the move. This project is simple, it can be fun, and holds a lot of promise for spreading the indefinite life extension meme. It’s the most popular project so far, its a great way to get involved, and best of all its free.
We list digg, twine, blog, video, articles and outside forums topic links to 6 lists in the projects wiki location so that we can raise discussion and cause link backs in all the spaces of the internet that have yet to have this causes light fully shine on them. This project looks good, and it makes far more sense than the fliers and yard signs. Larger potential to hit the targeted audience, the promotional material won’t degrade, it will draw more eyeballs and the downside is all but non-existent.

Even just the little git of digg work that we did today and yesterday is showing me just how much potential this team holds. Thanks a million for everybody that has joined on so far. Remember that you can pass the position off any time you want, not a lot of pressure. You need to make at least one addition to the project per week and attend as many of its weekly meetings as you can.

Bogger and I have been doing some more work in there today. Things are picking up slowly but surely. I forsee at least 200 link additions to the team per month with in a month.

Caliban has upgraded the action and suggestions and technical problems forums this week and its looking great, holds a ton of promise. There is a forums maintanence team forming this week too, things are picking up around here by the week.

The only things you need to do are add at least one link to the team wiki list per week, and attend the weekly meeting as often as you can.
The teams basic primary function is to bring word of the indefinite life extension cause to all the corners of the internet that dont know about it yet.

I was going to make this offer to the person that had the most entries in the wiki by a certain time, but I think that will work best when there are more team members.
Reminder, like Vgamer has gone over, make sure you post at least one topic that you added to the wiki here per week so we can count it for the weekly addition. The team will be published in different outlets like the newsletter, imminst pages etc.. To remain on the team you have to do at least one per week. Everybody has been going above and beyond so far. Excellent job, the team is inspiring to me and motivates me more, Im sure it has the same effect on a lot of other people who will be joining the team. Great job.
