I thought it was just me who suspected pimples from silica products, but saw in another thread that Ben-Aus also has the same suspicion...anyone else? What could be the possible mechanism of action? Why would a product supposed to make skin look wonderful cause pimples?

Never heard about that before, but it's indeed interesting. However, I didn't notice that after I began taking lots of supplements (including BioSil) I got a lot more pimples on my back.

Me neither, and I'm prone to it. I've only used BioSil.

But keep in mind, some people may respond differently. Fish oil helps improve a lot of people's skin, but it makes my acne worse.

I'm prone to acne and have taken all types of silica with no increase in it. Everyone is different, though. You can try Cola de Caballo by Amazon Therapeutics or Solaray Bamboo extract. Those are plant-derived silicas. I think the one you take now is derived from sand. I mix the Bamboo extract in a bottle cap of water to take a half capsule twice a day with a meal. I take it earlier in the day rather than later. I try not to take silica after dinner. It's powerful stuff. I take it a certain way for maximum absorption and I don't overdo. I can't go into all the reasons I take it exactly this way but I will say that according to Chinese medicine things we take on an empty stomach are more likely to be transported directly to your skin or extremities which isn't always desirable. The Cola de Caballo is liquid so it may even more absorbable. Also take it with meals divided into two doses rather than once a day, and earlier rather than later. Don't take cold drinks with it.

I had an increase in acne when taking biosil (though this could be a coincidence.)
