The Linus Pauling Institute's Vitamin K site has a good overview of current vit K research and benefits. I see some studies here that are mentioned at this page. Seems like all info needed is centralized in one page.

I like the Linus Pauling site, but another one for K2 studies and general info is:

One other thing to consider regarding MK4 vs MK7 is bulk and pricing. MK4, if mimicking the bone studies, will be more expensive than MK-7 (I assume). And the Japanese natto studies show a benefit too. I realize it isn't exactly the same as a MK7/bone strength study, but the mechanism by which natto prevents osteoporosis would seemingly be from MK-7.

For comparison, 5 mg MK4 is around the same price as 90 mcg of MK7.
Nobody's suggesting we use more than that, surely ?

My mistake then on pricing. For some reason I thought it was more... unless I was looking at higher doses or just an unusually expensive brand.

I personally like the idea of mixed menaquinones (with a decent amount of MK-7) at much lower doses, though. Even if MK-4 is better for bone health, this is a multivitamin, not a bone supplement. Not sure we should expect people to take several thousand percent of the RDA, for better bones, in a multi.

large doses of mk4 is a bad idea... this product isnt being marketed towards women with osteoporosis and theirs issues with some of the metabolites of k being toxic, which would be problematic with such a large dose

Stephan's mechanistic and ecological speculation is purely academic, thus irrelevant. If anything I'd agree via the epidemiology, which, although, it shows MK-7 and long chain vitamers edging out MK-4, argues for benefits from all menaquinones (just to varying degrees).
LEF is a great model example of how not to design supplements.

So what is wrong with the LEF formulation of 1000 micrograms K1, 1000 micrograms K2 as MK4, and 100 micrograms as MK7?

Nothing. Great product. I use the almost identical one sold at vitacost
