Sulbutiamine
mxr808 06 Mar 2010
I just wanted to ask a few questions for people who have experience with this.
Do you respond to it?
At what dosage do you respond enough so there is a pronounced effect?
Do you take a choline source with it?
What effects do you experience?
How long does it take for your tolerance to build up?
Thanks.

Can you tell us where you bought it please?
cheers

Except I used the UK version of the site. At first I was sceptical due to the amount of counterfeit prescriptions you can find online. The reason I ended up using it is because I'm based in the UK where Sulbutiamine is prescription only. I believe they're based in Oceania. The packaging seems genuine. Proper seal and has a batch number. Manufactured by Serdia Pharmaceuticals in India under license by Servier, France. Received 60 x 200mg tablets. The actual processing of the order took around 2 days which was a bit long but delivery only took 9 business days so was happy with that.
Even though it's only my first day of trying it the effects are so pronounced that I've pretty much made my mind up about adopting it permanently. I feel so invigorated and energized. I am in the best mood I've had in a long time.

Never mind it looks like 3-4 quid only.
They even sell pyritonol, but their citicholine which i believe is CDP looks expensive. I'm gonna give it a go as i lack motivation and energy.
So it seem sits safe to order it ven though it's prescription only. I always thought that would be a problem.

That's weird because today I took 600 mg - no effects.
Later on, I added about another 300mg - nothing notable.
Then again, my tolerance to energy stimulants is out of this world. I can take 600mg of caffeine and still be out of it.

looks like smartpowders sell this stuff too. Seems to be cheaper too. A gram would cost you roughly £1.53 from smartpowders compared to your source which is at £2 at a gram, unless i did my maths wrong.
Yeah the reason I ordered it from there was because it's already capped and is the Arcalion brand so I can be 100% it's pharmaceutical grade.
As for feeling no effects, I have read quite a few threads on the stuff and it definitely seems variable. People seem to either not react at ALL or feel instant noticeable effects of energy, motivation and alertness. It's fat soluble and requires choline so keep that in mind. I take mine with olive oil and 750 mg choline bitartrate.

Today my order of Sulbutiamine (Arcalion) arrived and after having taken 400mg and a further top up of 200mg I must say I'm quite impressed with the effects. The wakefulness and mental alertness is amazing and instantly noticeable so I'm really hoping I can use this nootropic in my times of need.

Tolerance builds pretty rapidly, but it takes 2-3 weeks of daily dosing to lose the effects entirely. I would recommend no more then 3 days a week of up to 800mgs to almost completely avoid tolerance. Personally I don't like it, I find the effects inconsistent and there are far better occasional stimulants with more focused effects, modafinil for one.

Is modafinil not more at risk of side effects if used regularly though? And is it not also more expensive?

My friend went to this private surgeon and asked about modafinil, but he wud not prescibe it cus it has way too many side effects. Adding ot that it's pretty expensive, so hard to consider modafinil!

Used search function and had a read. It didn't look very conclusive at all.anyone have good toxicity/cancer risk data on sulbutiamine? i kind of wonder, given what happened w/ benfotiamine.

befotiamine has been shown to promote tumor growth. and sulbutiamine seems somewhat similar, but i can't say with certainty. i just wonder w/ people taking this kind of stuff, and i can't find any good toxicity studies on pubmed.com.

Wasn't the study only showing that thiamine boosted tumor growth in rats who were basically thiamine deficient?
Wasn't the opposite effect also studied where it inhibited growth?

And from what I have read, it seems sulbutiamine is fine as long as you have a good choline source (raw eggs).

Modafinil is dangerous. Use sparingly and with caution.

Is ritalin safer? When you say raw eggs, can't you just take choline bitrate or somthing instead as raw eggs are a bit hard to swallow and stomach?

I'm fairly sure people generally advise using any of what I consider "The Big 3" (modifinil, ritalin, adderall) as a long term supplement. From what I read on ritalin itself I remember reading long term use can induce psychosis within people and also have severe withdrawal symptoms. My research is limited to google, however.

I haven't read any long term issues with taking modifinil... people say you can't compare it to adderall or ritalin

What happened with benfotiamine? I had a bottle left over so I've been taking it every other day or so until the bottles out and was not sure if I was going to continue to take it after. I guess I might as well dump it now if I'm not going to take it anymore when I run out.
