Wait... immortalityinstitute.org points at churchofimmortality.org

I don't want to create a mainstream window of a sect.

I believe that these long discussions about the name are distracting us from mountains of work that we still have to do.

Elliot said on the GRG mailing list that the biggest problem is that the different LE organizations are NOT cooperating. Instead of discussing our name we should work to convince the public about the need for LE.

Not for me, it doesn't.

For me it goes to http://immortalityinstitute.org/dnn45/ and on the left hand side, at the top, there is a section "Interesting Links": the 2nd link is churchofimmortality.org

I agree with Elliot. To be able to change things we need to increase tenfold and inform the public in large; we should not ignore the danger of barriers created by strange words and extreme ideas that lead to rejection rather than acceptation. To be able to change things we also need to push research ourselves, as you are trying to do.

To increase tenfold and inform the public in large:
- You are pushing for a common congress, that's an awesome project
- Heales informs people in the street and in politics, based on research and mainstream objectives.
- With Lifespan Society I'm trying to make imminst mainstream and communicable to frends and neighbourghs ("immortality" isn't mainstream; eg much more tainted with sects than "life extension")
- With longeCity I'm trying to make a community-independant portal of longevity communities; independance makes it neutral and more mainstream to attract
- GRG and SENS prefered to have their own discussions rather than be part of ImmInst

Rejuvepedia doesn't use the word immortality. Those keen for a name change could consider contributing to Rejuvepedia instead.

Caston, the description is awesome. It would look like this (I added the 2nd and last sentences): are you ok with it? If so I will add it to longeCity communities. I think you should create a specific imminst/lifespan society/WhateverTheNewName thread for it.

Rejuvepedia is an effort to build an open source encyclopedia on rejuvenation of the human body. It uses the same software as wikipedia. This is a brute force effort to find and develop information on reversing aging by compiling all of the information we have available and applying this effort to rejuvenating the body at the level of each organ and system. Rejuvepedia also looks at the human microbiome and how biological pathogens such as intracellular and extracellular bacteria and their biofilms are involved in the process of aging and decay.

Rejuvepedia needs volunteers to help research and create articles for the wiki. Please consider creating an account and joining out community. Each registered user gets their own blog as well as a userpage and can post to the forums. Go to http://www.rejuvepedia.org
