P.S. Feel free to leave comments on the site. It can be quite helpful, and may very well influence the course of our further investigations.

I just may do that.

A poem on our site asks the question:

How much of what we do in our lives is a surrogate for physical immortality?

Once we live forever, will we cease to try?

http://www.trueimmortals.net/?p=4457

(Walking toward eternity with open eyes.)

The old zen proverb says, "Life is like stepping onto a boat that is about to sail out to sea and sink." But once physical immortality is achieved, this will stop being true. (being discussed here: http://www.trueimmortals.net/?p=4624)

I'm about to discuss -- and critique -- the seven components of the SENSF program.

We're about to photograph one of them -- if he shows up.
There's been an interesting discussion on our site of how one would verify the claim that a given person aged far slower than expected. In general, it would be difficult to date a claim back to before the age of photography. But in the current case there is the issue of a person who (as he claims) usually avoids photographs in order not to be found out against his will, but is now trying to prove his claimed age to us.

Relevant post: http://www.trueimmortals.net/?p=3334

He did show up -- confirmed! Follow the chain of posts backwards from here: http://www.trueimmortals.net/?p=3351

Critique is now up. The problem with SENSF is the cult of personality. There are more ways to skin the cat than their precious 7! But one must admit that they're pointing the way.

The six posts are indexed, in a way, on this post: http://www.trueimmortals.net/?p=4651

Sorry I didn't reply earlier. I missed this.

FAIL

We have Keanu's child & teen photos. Even videos of him in his high school / college years.

Could've been of someone that just looked a lot like him to throw off anyone that suspected he was non-aging. :-D

Nice story.
If by chance there was one true-immortal human/mouse/fly/worm, we could analyse what's going on there (starting with DNA tests).

Actually there seems to be a true-immortal specie, a type of medusa.
This page tells about it and links to a review of true-immortal stories: http://www.dopotopa....ng1/news-2.html

But, of course, due to the conspicuous absence of vital statistics kept on wild mice, flies and worms, it would be less than trivial to discover whether those species throw out occasional non-aging members. Regarding humans, the problem is different: they might choose to avoid being entered into demographic records. But if we could find one, yes, that could be profoundly useful toward this end.

I've posted a thoughtful critique of Aubrey de Grey beginning here:

http://www.trueimmortals.net/?p=4879

I've also posted a less than gentle critique of SENS foundation beginning here: http://www.trueimmortals.net/?p=4867

Note: Contrary to what Flyss writes here: [http://www.trueimmortals.net/?p=4901] there is absolutely no conceivable truth to the notion that my series of posts are a reaction to be "whupped" by Florin Clapa.

Second Note: There is nothing whatever ironic about the notion that SENSF is living in a fantasy world, while trueimmortals.net faces reality.

I've now admitted that my rhetorical attack on SENSF was actually intended to test whether the foundation is infiltrated by True Immortals. It would appear that, fortunately, they are not.

http://www.trueimmortals.net/?p=5169

However, this is not to say that there may not be Hafeems involved ....

There's a story by a non-mortal, about a non-mortal, being posted here in stages: http://www.hiddenimm...fo/hafeem-saul/

It's not a fast read, but it's thought provoking.

We'll be talking about it on trueimmortals.net

In this overly long blog post, I test Tolkien's claim the mortality is a gift, and conclude that real evidence suggests that the claim is incorrect.

After I said my bit in 800 words, Kate put it together in a 6 line poem:

Mortality is the gift of God to humankind / Tolkien says,

Though precisely why we should say "thanks" to Death / he leaves as mystery.

Still, I agree: Paradoxes always do make the mind feel wise.

The limit that unleashes /The yoke that frees

And besides, those damn grapes would just taste sour, anyways. -- Kate

Quote:

As our readers know, Oxadrenals’ and his group are attempting to offer the gift of physical immortality to the world; however, Alexandros and his group are (in good faith, and with good intentions) attempting to stop him from doing so. The current moment is therefore one of crisis.

We have already mentioned that a series of narratives about this conflict are about to go online. What we wish to add now is that these narratives will appear online automatically. Stephen has arranged the process. In his opinion, not even the NSA can stop them appearing.

These narratives are written from the perspective of various people involved in the drama. They begin in December of last year, and continue on up to the present. But the present is at a tipping point. We don’t know whether Oxadrenals’ project will be allowed to reach completion, or whether it will be suppressed by Alexandros; whether the world shall receive physical immortality, or it shall not. The final post has not been written.

If Oxadrenals succeeds, these narratives will represent a celebration and chronicle of this great moment in human history. If, however, Alexandros successfully suppresses Oxadrenals, the posts will still appear: and they will tell the whole human world who has deprived them of eternal life.

This is not a threat! We certainly don’t have the temerity to threat such a being as Alexandros. All we want to do is this: Alter the facts on the ground to influence your thoughtful decision making.

Within hours, we will announce the URL of the first installments. [It was subsequently announced as The Immortal Blair ]

Here's an excerpt from installment 12 of The Immortal Blair, that members of this forum might find interesting.

Background: Blair is talking with Janice. He's an Immortal, but she doesn't know it. She might be an immortal, but he isn't sure.

She tells him about a movie she just saw. The language is beautiful, poetic, insightful. (And, perhaps I should also add that this installment is full of sexual tension.)

___

There were two skydivers, a man and woman, doing tricks in the air before their parachutes come out. Somersaults, holding hands and spinning. They can’t do it forever, of course, or they’ll go splat. The man lets out his parachute first, all bright and billowy above him. But the camera is with the woman, and she hasn’t let out her own parachute yet. So you know what it looks like? It looks like the man is yanked up and away, really fast, torn out of the picture. But actually, he’s just slowed down, and she’s the one who’s moving. One moment he’s in her world, skydancing with her; the next moment the air grabs him and he’s gone.

The air is so light and thin. How can it do that? How can it grab someone and take them away?

But time is even lighter than air. Time is the lightest thing there is. And yet it grabs people and takes them away. Every one of them.

A breakthrough has been made in the quest for physical immortality.

In an underground facility within the redwood forests of Santa Cruz County, the sequencing countdown inches toward completion. And yet, the project is in crisis, for those who are currently immortal seek to keep immortality for themselves alone. The Immortality Project.

The forests, however, are quite extensive, are they not? But keep an eye out for black helicopters and the like. :-)

Hopefully this is really determined sci fi, because it will make another great contrast for making us look tame by comparison.

The story here though does remind me a lot of the "But only the rich will get indefinite life extension, you fools!" arguement. If that did happen, then what might it look like from the outside? Might it look kind of like this? Of course, I doubt it, Im just saying.

This topic also reminds me of a perspective illuminating video that b0gger recently posted about long lived plant species:

The anagrams have been deciphered. "Read by eye room" converts to "Aubrey de Grey." In retrospect, this should have been obvious, but it was solved not by us, but by a reader. See this post: http://www.trueimmortals.net/?p=3711

The second anagram, "Iced his lips" converts to "His disciple." http://www.trueimmortals.net/?p=3711

So we now suspect the involvement of a student of Dr. de Grey, quite possible one who is doing something that his teacher would never for a moment sanction: actually practicing the elements of SENS on human beings, rather than awaiting further advancement of the techniques in the proper ways. If anyone of you is aware of such an unscrupulous practitioner, please let us know!

MAybe he is admiistering them on a volunter who has nothing to lose and wants to try? Give me a few mor months with my depresion and anxiety and my hatred f aging and i might myself become a volunteer. At least then my life could potentianlly have meaning...

I don't see how immortality is possible - how could you live through a big bang / big crunch?

But after ruling out that.. people could live for a very long time.

80000 anyone ?
