Lecithin vs. DMAE

I have resigned from using 'hard-core' nootropics (i.e. various forms of 'racitams) as they provided me with no, or unwanted effects. However, I used a choline support seperately in both the form of DMAE and Lecithin. I found these to both have excellent results and really provided that extra 'clarity' and ease-of-recall that I was after - I assume this was due to the additional promotion of choline within the brain.

So, the question I put to the members of this forum is which is holistically a 'better' product to use on a long-term daily basis and which provides 'better' cognitive support in the short and long-run?

Note: I still have both products and found that using them together is slightly too much and hence provides a 'hazy' or headache effect. Individually used I personally preferred taking 3 x High-Strength Soya Lecithin Capsules daily (approx. 4000g total) which definitely DID increase mental performance (I measured this against intense studying for final year exams) I also used prior to Lecithin, DMAE (approx. 500g in 2 x 250g caps) which gave me increased mental performance but in a slightly different fashion to that of Lecithin (possibly more 'focus' and attention to detail than the lectihin 'agility' and recall).

Any help/discussion would be greatly received!

I take both. Just got DMAE in the mail the other day. I have been taking Lecithin for some time, and I noticed a huge improvement with remembering list items. The DMAE feels more of a stimulant. I take them together with no problem.

I'm not sure what "high strength" soy lecithin is, but I take two tablespoons of the GNC granules (switching to non-GMO when I run out). It has inositol and PS, so I wouldn't stop taking it. If it had to be one or the other, choose the Lecithin to keep.

Theoretically, neither Lecithin or DMAE are great sources of choline when compared to Alpha GPC or CDP Choline. I can't tell you from experience, so I hope someone who has tried some of these can give you a little input on the best choline source.

My best advice is to experiment with the dose and take both. Find the perfect synergy for YOU.

I found overall benefits when integrating several approaches. I feel supplementation is not like a laser focused pharmaceutical intervention so I cannot be specific on any compounds taken separately. Since I supplement (6 years now) I think I have a better memory recall but most of all more attention and better processing and understanding of what I hear from people and colleagues and much smarter interactions. My today "cocktail" include fish oil (moderate as concerned by lipid peroxidation), Cognitex (incl. A-GPC, vinpocetine, phosphatidylserine), DMAE, piracetam and I will be trying soon centrophenoxine, alternating with DMAE, mostly to avoid lipofuscin buid up (maybe you check out also here)

DMAE-nice mild cognitive stimulant effect
Lecithin-Haven't used it in a while. Lots more oils in it, more calming.

I like Lecithin the 1st days i am taking it. But after it brings me to depressive/social anxiety state. Doing wonders for libido though). Never tried DMAE. But also use GPC and Choline Citrate. All have different effect on me.
