Flaxseed oil comes from the seed of the flax plant.
It contains 50 - 60% omega-3 fatty acids in the form of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA).
That is more than is contained in fish oil, but the body is not very efficient at converting ALA ( through an enzymatic process ) into the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oils.
So ALA from flaxseed may not have the same benefit as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) from fish oil .
< Lauric Acid > (~50% in coconut oil) has been found to increase total cholesterol the most of all fatty acids.
But most of the increase is attributable to an increase in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) "good" cholesterol.
As a result, lauric acid has "a more favourable effect on 'Total:HDL' cholesterol ratio than any other fatty acid, either saturated or unsaturated" .
So to summarize, ideal natural EPA/DHA ratio is 2:1, and ideal Omega 3:6 ratio is 2:1 or 1:1 !
And your body can already convert to Omega 9 when needed,
Any amount of fat above that in diet is completely unnecessary and counter-productive .
Best derived Essential Fatty Acid proportion Ratio in real life application of an amazing Raw Vegan preparation :
1-2g High-Quality Fish Oil
+ 1tsp Virgin Coconut Oil
+ 1tsp Grape-seed Oil(~75% Omega 6)
+ 2tsp Virgin Cold-pressed Flax Oil( Omega 3 to Omega 6 is 4:1, but ALA requires an enzymatic process to convert to EPA/DHA )
+ 100g of slightly boiled short-grain brown rice ( for about 10-15mins ),
+ 1tbsp(heaping) Brown Rice Protein concentrate to enhanced the Nutrition Profile,
+ 1tbsp(heaping) of Buckwheat Flour to help breakdown phytic acid, and increase Bio-Availability
+ Organic Green Leaf pre-washed mix, rinse it anyways once more
That dish can be easily split into 3-4 portions too ...
