Please, let someone explain me in simple words with few sentencies, what is the folding home about, and why it is important for longer life or immortality? Thanks in regards!

Folding@ home is a distributed computing project run by Stanford University. The goal is to simulate how proteins fold at the molecular level. Protein folding is a fundamental process for life and when the process goes wrong (misfolded proteins) can cause, or are highly implicated in major diseases. It is very fundamental research at the molecular level that has a long time frame for producing actionable results.
People who download the Folding program donate their computer power to the project. Here at Longecity we fold for the "longevitymeme" team. At one point Longecity offered a cash prize for folding contributions to the team. We created a powerhouse folding team that climbed to number 69 in the world. Very impressive. After a year or so the Board decided to cut off funding for the cash prize, and the team has languished a bit over the past year and a half.
