Just received my revgentics order. It says that I have to take 1 to 4 servings daily. Should I mix it with water and/or take it with food?
Thanks a lot

There are quite a few people on this forum who think it's best to take resveratrol once a day in the morning, on an empty stomach (empty stomach possibly = better/faster absorption, higher peak blood plasma levels), as taking it in the evening will possibly interfere with your circadian rhythms (this view is based on members' experiences as well as studies such as http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/18997419). As far as how much, it's really something you need to determine for yourself. Perhaps start with lower doses (say 100mg) and move upwards from there. Personally I find a morning dose of somewhere between 500mg and 1 gram to be a good dose for me. I actually don't feel that nightly resveratrol supplementation interferes with my body clock, but having said that I also supplement with melatonin, which could potentially counteract any circadian interference from resveratrol by way of melatonin's 'factory-reset' effect on the body clock.

Taking smaller doses of resveratrol results in more of it being taken out by glucuronidation and sulfation. You get a higher blood level per gram consumed if you take it in a single dose. There is published human pharmacokinetic data to this effect, so this isn't just speculation. I would only split my dose if the resulting multiple doses were close to a gram each.

Thanks a lot! so starting with 100 mg on the first day, 200 mg on the second, 300 mg on the third,.....would be a good idea? I'm taking the micronized version btw

sure, that would be fine. How much are you ultimately planning on taking?

Right now I'd say 500 mg a day. Is it okay to start using this at my age, I'm not even 30 yet?

It's ok to use it. The relative benefit will depend on a lot of different factors, like how good or bad your diet is, how screwed up your metabolic state is, and how likely you are to have a heart attack or stroke. The worse you are on those axes, the better resveratrol is for you. You could probably use a smaller dose, like 250-350mg, if you're relatively healthy.

Thank you so much, really appreciate it. I'm 200 lbs but not overweight as I am very tall. does your dosage have to depend on your body weight? I assume a small and skinny woman has to take less of it.

If it's powder, put it under your tongue and then use your tongue to push some into your cheeks (much like tobacco chewers do) and hold in mouth for 10-15 minutes and then swallow...sublingual gives higher peak blood concentrations and avoids first pass (gets absorbed through the mucous membranes inside the mouth directly into the blood stream and bypasses the liver...much like tobacco chewers absorb nicotine)...that's what I do first thing in the morning with 500mg and I definitely can "feel" it within 10 minutes or less...I go from groggy to a "clear and wide awake" feeling which lasts somewhere between 1/2 to 1 hour. It seems to increase blood flow to the brain during this time frame.

sounds like I should add 10-15 uncomfortable minutes to each and every morning :-)

I don't find it a problem. I do it after brushing my teeth while showering and getting ready for work.

edit: You could also do it in the car, etc on the way to work.

yeah. I can definitely do it in the car but it needs to be done on an empty stomach?

personally, I don't do it, but to hear some people's description, it sounds like it might be worth it. Some people get a psychotropic reaction; sort of a resveratrol orgasm. YMMV.

Thank you. This morning before I read the posts here, I mixed it with water and I had the feeling that it make me feel better rightaway. Like a great mood enhancer, but tomorrow I'll try the tongue method to see what it does to me :-)

Please keep posting; it's good to hear your experiences, esp. for some of us who are more jaded and experienced. ;)
