February 2012 Outreach

brokenportal's Photo brokenportal 05 Feb 2012

a.) Snail mail people. This is probably the most potent option.

b.) Call people. It is much harder to get phone numbers, and it is harder to talk to people, convince them, deal with them, and get them links but try this if you so choose, it could be the key to getting through to a particular person about this crucial cause.

c.) Email people. Emails are easier to find so you can help increase the odds of getting through to people by using this method.

Write what you think works. If you want some ideas then let us know and we can help. Keeping it ultra short is recommended but not necessary.

You can also help by making suggestions of who to write to here: http://www.longecity...bout-the-cause/

You can write to your representative to contribute to this team too:

In January, Droplet wrote to 80 people for this team, wow!

A list with a philanthropist named Larry Thiel (related to Peter Thiel? must be) was suggest by Droplet also last month. I have written to Larry today.

I want someone to beat me. Come on, it's a challenge! One person and the amount of e-mails in one month that must exceed over 80. :)

Here is my latest outreach e-mailing to the following band sites:
patsywatchorn.com (I wanted to e-mail The Dubliners cos they're ancient, followed a load of links and this was the first with e-mail)
The Troggs (again, they're ancient)
U2
The Pet Shop Boys (four addresses)
The Uprising Creative (wanted to try The Beastie Boys but they had no address)
The Offspring
Scooter
Imaginistix and Martin Hausler (both had links from Meat Loaf's site but he had no e-mail. Two addresses altogether).
Project Pitchfork (three addresses)
Scottbrown.co.nz (not the one I was looking for but a random)
Scott Brown (the one I WAS after)
Moksha (link found through Kosheen's site)
Faithless
Skinny Puppy (they'd likely disapprove but at least they're aware)
Sash!
Sheep on Drugs
Kula Shaker (three addresses)
Megadeth
Metallica (four addresses)
Website Pipeline and Teal Networks (found via the Metallica site - five e-mails altogether)
Gekko Internet (wanted to mail Space but they didn't provide contact info)

Sony Music (tried to contact Leonard Cohen cos he's ancient but found this instead)
Enigma (another depressing band like the above)
Dog Eat Dog
Avocado Booking (was found via Dog Eat Dog)
Electronic Saviors (I still think someone from US like Brokenportal would do well to speak to them)

Now up to forty. Don't know if I'll get as many in as before but at least I'm half way there. :)

What do you write to them? Do you copy paste their emails all in to one cc or send them out individually?
Quote

Droplet's Photo Droplet 09 Feb 2012

I send them altogether with CC if they are from the same site. Other than that, it is individual. I use a stock letter and send it out to as many as I can but I don't put every single contact in one huge BCC.

That should work. How long of a letter? What do you generally talk about in them?
Quote

Droplet's Photo Droplet 09 Feb 2012

It's the same letter I sent you ages ago when I asked your opinion of it. Very general. Will PM it to you.

A response from one e-mail. I should really write one in German. I know I could if I had some time spare translate my stock letter. This was from the booking e-mail of Capud Draconis:

That would be awesome to get a letter from a Minstrel or to bring one on board. I didn't know they had those anymore.

Droplet's Photo Droplet 14 Feb 2012

Face it...would be good if anyone else got on board. :)
