I am trying to boost my proteine in take with whey (I am using the Jarrow unflavored powder right now) but I am a little at loss on what I can mix it with quickly. I am midly lactose intolerant and I hate the taste of milk, so that obvious choice is out. Smoothies take to long to prepare and while orange juice is bearable taste wise, it means consuming a shit load of sugar with the whey... Any recommendations on other liquids that make the taste of whey bearable while not delivering massive amounts of sugar?

Put the Whey powder in a container with a tight lid (such as a jar or shaker), Add a tablespoon of unsweetened bakers cocoa powder and a tablespoon of splenda (or artificial sweetner of choice). Put the lid on and shake the dry powder mix...this will break apart any small lumps in the bakers cocoa and make the powder more mixable without clumping. Add 8 oz water and reshake...and enjoy. About 2 minutes prep time.
edit: If you don't like chocolate....use sugar free jello of your choice. You can mix about a third of a package of say, sugar free (artificially sweetened) strawberry gelatin in place of the cocoa. It will taste like a smoothie. It won't get thick because to "gel", the gelatin needs to be dissolved in hot water and then set or gel in the fridge overnite. Sugar free gelatin powder makes excellent fruit flavored protein drinks with the above procedure.

Forgot to mention an occasional favorite...if you like coffee...stir the cocoa version mixture (always pre-shake the powder per above...it improves mixing) into a hot mug of coffee...protein mocha!!! A real treat.

I just tried 200ml of Lactose free milk (1.5% fat), one scoop of Whey (23g according to Jarrow) and a heaped teaspoon of cocoa. Does not taste great but is pretty tolerable... Next try: same thing with water
A little artificial sweetner will do wonders! I prefer splenda but a little stevia works. Or a little bit of each is good.

I don't think all those artificial sweeteners are very good for you - but I just ordered a bag a of Xylitol powder (which I understand is low glycemic index, so perfect for the job), maybe that will improve things

It doesn't taste great, but it takes very little time to drink so that doesn't matter.

Sticking to Lactose Free Milk, Whey, Cocoa, Xylitol and sometimes EVOO or EVCO. Quite bearable as a 1 minute breakfast. Then wash down supplements and 0.5l water.

1) EVOO
2) Macadamia Oil
3) MCT Oil (I would use ECOO but its freezing point is way to low)
4) Avocado Oil
Objective: boost caloric intake to boost lean mass. Probably EVOO would be preferable but I guess I could substitute MCT for their thermogenic effects?
