I have not owned a pet rodent since Ratty, a lost rat that happened into my life and heart many many years ago and shared many young adventures with me.
I am keen to be involved in this experiment and do my bit for science/longecity/humanity.

I have a spare room in which I can house some mice and have been to a pet shop to price cages and find out where I can find sister mice (Important to avoid fights and 1+1=200! )
The room will provide a good place for me to play with them, shield the mice from temperature extremes, predators/stress and provide them with natural day night cycles.

Ideally I would like to have 2 cages with 2 or 3 mice (sisters) in each cage and feed one cage placebo and the other C60oo.
I believe doing so would give more accurate results as the mice will share the same ancestry, enviroment, diet and anything else that comes along. Important when N is small.
I hope this is possible, but will be happy to take part even if this isnt?

So let me know how we are to move forward with this.

one cage placebo and the other C60oo (...) I hope this is possible

As explained to interested participants by email, by default participants will EITHER receive placebo or C60oo, without knowing what they received until the end of the experiment.

There are some reasons for that:
a) in case a visual comparison of the placebo and C60oo together could indicate which one is the treatment (then it is not double-blind anymore)
b) risk to give the wrong treatments to the wrong animals (bad experience)

However, as you mention, having both c60oo and placebo in some homes would have the advantage to improve statistical power (by locally cancelling out home variability) and detect much more subtle effects than the reported c60oo effects. So we need to wait a little until we know more about a) and to think much about b) before possibly taking such a decision -- I will discuss about it here: http://www.longecity...post__p__529981

This is 100% your right, your choice: no one is forcing anyone, and it is of the interest of everyone that we reduce the risk of such disinterest once a person already has pets.

Three years ago you were one of the first to propose the idea of mprize at home, a big bravo and a big recognition for that.

I am sorry I posted this and withraw the statement.

I am keen on having controls, placebos (oo), and rats on C60oo, but cost is an issue for me.

I will also look for local pet owners and see if any are interested.

Sadly I am not going to be able to take part at this time as I will be spending extented periods of time in Africa, putting up a gold mine.
