Yes, in antiquity eunucks were known to live longer. But I think this study implies that one would need to do it before puberty. Otherwise, the epigenetic changes triggered by maturation would have already taken place -? The way I understand it, the program of maintenance is on, waiting for the organism to mature for reproduction. But if this maturation never comes..

I think this was done with plants and accomplished by preventing them from flowering by nipping the buds.
