I thought someone posted something about low-dose long-term alcohol having a benefit for anxiety, or gaba receptors. Did it increase the number of gaba receptors? Now I can't find it. Maybe I'm making things up. I know there are lots of threads on cardio and life-extension benefits of low dose alcohol, but that's not what I'm looking for.

Thanks.

Low dose alchol is great for anxiety in two ways. First off alchol works as a positive allorestic modulator and second it boosts your neurohormones which all seem to boost gaba (dopamine too) in some way.

That's why it's called liquid courage. :)

Yes, but I think people who call it that are typically referring to acute high-doses.

Thanks kevinseven11. I didn't know dopamine was involved.

I found the post I was thinking of.

I would guess that's referring to high-dose alcohol.

IMO it depends on the type of anxiety, if its situational then it could be good to help your confront. But if its general anxiety then I would guess it would make it worse or lead to dependence.

Less than that. RS3RS suggested 0.4oz of vodka.
