I want to start taking Res but there are too many companies out there. I do take a few of Now supps and their 'Mega Res' is a lot cheaper than RevGenitics. Is there that much difference?
Now supps has this per cap: Polygonum cuspidatum Extract (Root) (50% Natural Trans-Resveratrol - 200 mg) 120 caps for $27.00.

Thanks

the 50% extracts cause diarrhea in most people at doses over about 30 mg. 98 0r 99% powder, either or any brand, is most economical way to go

megaresveratrol.com. revgenetics.com and kingherbs.com; I use the latter at about $1 a gram. But note I also do work for them on non-supplement products.

Any tips on how to measure say 200 mg of the powder, and how do you take it?

I can confirm this. Regarding brand, I would recommend Biotivia Transmax. They also have currently have a 15% sale and free shipping. Some folks on here take issue with their marketing but don't doubt the high standard of their supplements.

Cannot measure powder accurately, as density varies too much batch to batch. Acquire an inexpensive electronic scale that measures to 1/100ths of a gram. beyond-a-century dot com sells one for under $30, a search engine will turn up others.

But for rough approximation, a quarter teaspoon often measures between 350 an 450 milligrams. A 200 mg plastic scoop (1/5 teaspoon) often sold with herbal powders, usually measures between 350 and 350 mg. 1/8. 1/16 and 1/32 teaspoon sets are sold as pinch, dash and smidgeon measures, but I've no idea if they're accurate.

I agree with maxwatt's suggestions to choose a brand that advertises a 98 or 99 per cent purity
level. Some suppliers provide a current certificate of analysis from an independent lab, while
others refuse to provide this.

An issue I encountered is that Japanese knotweed, a widely used botanical source for resveratrol,
also contains emodin, a stimulant laxative. Emodin and other substances can be removed from the
product through a pharmaceutical purification process.

There is nothing inherently wrong with emodin -- some studies show benefits -- but you should be
the one to decide whether you want to take it, and how much. Chronic use of anthraquinone
laxatives like emodin may cause problems, so at a minimum you ought to know how much
you are taking,

Stick with resveratrol of known purity with a published, independent analysis.

Sounds good guys,

Below is the RevGenetics high purity COA of the resveratrol we use. As a side note, RevGenetics X500 is only $23.99 to everyone (but the price is lower to Longecity members...not registered users, but actual members). Consider becoming a member here: http://www.longecity.org/membership

RevGenetics X500 capsules are 500mg high purity resveratrol capsules which are IND Approved by the FDA for use in clinical and University research.

i can recommend RevGenetics for quality and service. I have used them for the last four years. I have also used other brands but for now nothing is better.

Been buying the powder from megaresveratrol for a while now. Pretty happy with that. I usually cycle my dose higher in the summer - up to 1000mg but otherwise usually 250mg home made liposomal.

zorba990, tell us about your home brew liposomes. How does your method compare with, for example, the method described here (free full text article):
