However, my weaknesses are a nice rare filet mignon (only at great restaurants), cheesecake (again, usually only worth it at great restaurants), and the city of New Orleans. I go down there a few times a year, which absolutely ruins my eating habits for a few days.

I
I am now on a low-fat diet similar to what Kurzweil describes in his books.
I have no clue what that is, but I hope it includes sufficient "good fats" or you take e.g. fish oils.

Dammit Duke-, I thought I was eating healthy stuff there! Now what am I going to munch on? I can't go back to Snickers and pizza. [sad]

I've done a heck of a lot of research on protein bars and meal replacement bars, and I've never found any that are worth a darn. I sometimes make my own, but they must stay in the fridge otherwise they melt, so they're not too convenient.

I even found some that don't have oats. I can't eat oats, I'm allergic. [sick]

My weakness is high-quality desserts, made fresh, like a carrot cake, or key lime pie, or tres leches. I eat out almost every night for dinner at a good quality restaurant, and 50% of the time order dessert, but only ever have 2-3 bites.
Isn't milk used in the preparation of both carrot cake and tres leches cake?

For snacks, I love red grapes because they are sweet and good for you. I still like sweets so this takes care of that and I get a daily dose of beneficial phytochemicals. Other things I love are nuts and dates. Too many dates aren't good either, likewise with pineapple which has a lot of natural sugar.

It's generally just ice cream or pop though, and even those I'm cutting down on. Fast food occasionally... but oreos? Man... those are the easiest to get rid of.
