If it wasn't cognitive enhancing people wouldn't be taking it to study. I don't think anyone is going to argue that. It doesn't seem like you are sure of exactly what you got. But I do know that 400mg of d amphetamine would most likely engender horrible side effects.

can you post any research you came across? I'm interested.

I've seen evidence of Ritalin promoting neuroplasticity. This is the closest to amphetamine and benefits that I found.

I hate to be a broken record here in discounting the value of amphetamines, but saying "If it wasn't cognitive enhancing people wouldn't be taking it to study" is similar to the "if alcohol didn't make me feel good I wouldn't drink it". How things start out isn't always how they end up, but the ends are often quite predictable regardless.

400MG, HOLY SMOKES.

If I took that much, THERE WOULD BE SMOKE COMING OUT OF MY EARS.

while lots of nootropics tend to have "amphetamine-like" effects (i.e. phenylpiracetam), I showed interest in looking for plant-derived amphetamines. I could find info. on khat and ma huang (ephedra). Ma huang being the general source for producing amphetamines (correct me if I'm wrong) and possibly the most well known.

http://amphetamines....l-amphetamines/

Natural amphetamines: blackbrush, guarana, ephedra (ma huang), cathinone (khat), and carnitine.

Regarding carnitine; most people I know usually prefer ALCAR (acetyl-l-carnitine) because they say its acetylized (whatever that means), so I'm curious how is carnitine like considering it is a natural amphetamine? I've had ALCAR before but never carnitine and ALCAR didn't really feel amphetamine-like. Curious how carnitine is like.

Sorry, I have tried neither but I would like to point out that Dexedrine is cleaner than Adderall. Dexedrine is 100% dextroamphetamine, Adderall is 75% dextroamfetamine and 25% levoamphetamine. Most side effects seem to be associated with levoamphetamine, at least if you trust anecdotal reports.. Although for narcolepsy a racing heart, stim jitters, and jaw clenching (?from increased norepinephrine?) might be a good thing. ;)

As far as I know, weight loss is only related to amphetamines by the fact that they suppress hunger. So if you still make sure to eat (even though you are not hungry) you shouldn't lose weight. Make a food diary before you start taking the dexedrine and make sure to consume the same amount per day.
