I have a couple of questions. I apologize in advance if they are redundant and have already been discussed, I am trying to wrap my head around the C60 thing.
  • I came across this paper http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/11331193 where they saw positive effects of fullerenes in aqueous solutions. How important do people think it is that they are dissolved in olive oil?
  • Olive oil is known to have phenolic compounds like hydroxytyrosol that have health benefits. Could there be some kind of synergistic interaction between these compounds and C60?
  • Any potential bad interactions of taking C60 with things like fish oil, resveratrol and curcumin? Best time of the day to take C60?

I think that the olive oil is very important. The c60 isn't just dissolved in the oil, it reacts with it to form a new compound, a c60-fatty acid adduct. I think the c60-fatty acid adduct then gets incorporated into membranes, including mitochondrial membranes where most Reactive Oxygen Species are generated. People have reported a lot of favorable biological activities with a variety of molecular (ie, non-aggregated) fullerene species, including pristine c60 that has been forcibly inserted in water as a hydrated molecule (Andrievsky's work), water soluble analogs like Laura Dugan's tris-malonates, and the fatty acid adducts of Baati et al.

I don't see a mechanism for synergy between olive oil polyphenols and c60. The effects are probably additive.

I don't see significant interactions between c60-oo and typical supplements. I'd probably keep fish oil away from it, given C60's ability to react with various fatty acids. I don't think the time of day matters at all, since the half life of the compound in membranes is extremely long. I dose it once a month.

That's a fairly old abstract. 2001. Seems to be commentary on another previously done study but that's not absolutely clear from the abstract. It seems to deal with a pretty limited subject of malonic acid c60 adducts, carboxyfullerenes, to treat cell cultures with limited in vivo data treating familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (FALS) in mice. I think this 1997 study may be what its referring to:

Carboxyfullerenes as neuroprotectivePosted Imageagents (full-text)

It found a 15% delay (8 to 10 days) in the death of mice genetically predisposed to FALS when treated with carboxyfullerenes. But no data on life extension of healthy mammals.
