Been on Eurycoma Longifolia for some time now. The only supplement that seems to have firm evidence in increasing free testosterone levels. I notice that, whenever I'm on it, contrary to popular beliefs, it does not make me aggressive. Quite the opposite actually.

A bizarre thing to note, since I've been on it, I've had at least 2 comments from women saying there was this 'scent' about me that they liked. Did my research, and apparently they can smell the testosterone off you. That's probably the hidden ingredient as to why some men are better with women than others (in conjunction with the popular 'low cortisol, healthy immune system' theory).

Seems to work well for weight lifting too.

Only concern - does it have any adverse effect regarding the prostate?

The mechanism of Tongkat seems to be via estrogen blocking, which reduces negative feedback and increases testosterone. Prostate growth is also estrogen-dependent, so it might have a beneficial effect in this area but that is hard to determine.

Some negatives: the plant is in limited supply with quantities decreasing. It also has been shown in a lot of studies to have cytotoxic as well as a range of other effects, so it is not a simple product and its safety is pretty much unknown.

The same effect can be had with estrogen blockers like letrozole or toremifene which have a very defined mechanism in the body.

I tried it a couple of years ago and it made me very irritable.

Perhaps that was just the testosterone?

One of the side effects of high dose eurycoma root is that it can cause insomnia. Lack of adequate sleep, when repeated over many days, can lower sex drive. So, it's better to take smaller amounts over several days rather than a very high amount for one or two days. It can also be assumed that high levels can be toxic.

Every time I see the name of this supplement, I think of Eurycuma Longfello.
