Ok...how can waking up sweating, with a sore neck (thyroid area), with heart palpitations, and anxiety not be symptoms?
A little background that I posted in a different thread...I responded to this guy when I first started having symptoms while searching the forum for my own symptoms.
I am fairly certain I have an enlarged thyroid gland, I am not certain what could have caused it at my young age (24) but the primary symptom is a bulging on either side of my adams apple and a sense of fullness in my throat when both swallowing and breathing. When I grab hold of either side of the swelled area I can move it back and forth, including my adams apple. Other symptoms I have include twitching in my sleep (almost feels like I am going to go into a convulsion), inability to sleep, problems gaining weight and strange eye sensations when looking back and forth (I experience head rushes).
So I have pretty much diagnosed myself but I am wondering if there is any possibility it could be something else? I have an appointment to see a general care physician in October but I want to go fully armed with knowledge of the possible causes of this so the doctor doesn't over-look anything, which believe me they often do. I am also considering requesting Radioactive Iodine as my treatment option if it does in fact turn out to be thyroid related and not a ruptured disc, in order to reduce the size of the thyroid gland, because honestly it is not pleasant to look at either (it's not goiter huge, but it looks like my adams apple is a bit too large).
It is my understanding that anyone who takes a dose of Radiated Iodine may have to take T4 for the rest of their lives. Is this true? And what are the other possible long term complications of radiated Iodine treatment and how many people generally suffer an under active thyroid as a result?
I apologize for the revival a thread that is 4yrs old but I [am] having the same issues without the head rush stuff and my twitches don't appear to be [as] severe. My condition is virtually unnoticeable if you are looking at me but was confirmed by ultrasound and slight soreness (along with a swollen lymph node under the chin). Here's the kicker, according to my doctor the lab results came back normal [because the doctor didn't test for TSH, which came back low about two weeks later]. Maybe supplements like acetylcarnitine arginate and ashwagandha and a medicine like wellbutrin could cause this (none of these were taken together)?
Little about me:
24yo male
68kg
Low body fat
Here is where I suspected Acetylcarnitine Arginate and/or Ashwagandha.
I still suspect that Acetylcarnitine Arginate and/or Ashwagandha could have caused this incident...
Acetylcarnitine Arginate and Ashwagandha are both immune boosters like Echinacea. What ever the auto-immune disorder might be, it has targeted my thyroid.
