Hi,

I'm looking into buying a few nootropics to help me achieve better clarity of mind (I always feel "foggy"), concentration, focus and memory.

After reading extensively, I have come up with the following list for a "special mix". Is there any counterindication to taking all of this at once, any risk other than the minor side effects? Also, if any of you have any advice to alter this mix (ingredients, dosage, times per day, ...), feel free to let me know.

I have never taken anything apart from Echinaforce (something wildly available in Switzerland, used to build up resistance) and mackerel liver oil. I suffer from hay allergy and take some medication for this during spring/summer, which tend to cause sleepiness and contributes to my "foggyness". Apart from that, I'm in a general very good health, seldom sick.

My "mix" would be :

- Vinpocetine 10mg, 2/day
- Phosphatidylserine 100mg, 2/day
- DHEA 100mg, 3/day
- Ginkgo Biloba 60mg, 3/day
- Pregnenolone 50mg, 2/day
- L-Tyrosine 500mg, 1/day
- Armodafinil 150mg, 1/day

Thanks for your kind feedback!

Josh

No, those all look compatible, although that IS quite a lot of DHEA. What is your "special mix" meant to do?

And it's contraindicate, not counter

Thank you. I'll tune down the DHEA then. As stated, I want "to help me achieve better clarity of mind (I always feel "foggy"), concentration, focus and memory".

And thanks for the correction; English not being my mothertongue, I hope you'll excuse me :-)

Yeah, DHEA isn't going to do much for that goal, you can safely tune it down. It's said to improve testosterone levels, which might help a bit if you're overcoming insufficiencies, but overall you just won't need as much as originally presented.

If you're really wanting to clear out your brain fog, and feel like your endocrine system might be at fault, as some of your supplements suggest, have you looked into Ashwagandha? It does a very good job of that, in my experience.

Hi Jeoshua,

From what I've read, it has a small effect to help cognitive functions and mood, and boost the immune system. Could it hurt to give it a try ? :-)

OH, no it won't hurt. It's just not going to be necessary to take that much. I personally have taken a Pregnenolone/DHEA Complex myself, and find that it does a nice job of leveling out my mood, IF I don't take too much. The pills, unfortunately, came in 100mg/25mg sizes. I take the pills apart and only take a tenth of that (10mg/2.5mg) and that seems to work nicely.

Basically, barring any kind of hormonal regulation dysfunction, your body is already creating 20mg of Preg and around 10mg of DHEA a day. Giving oneself too much of either could throw the system's balance off.
