Two of the main negative responses to noopept I have had is irritability/anger and slight anxiety thats an overall weird feeling. This usually happens with my second dose in the day. I took l-heanine today with my second dose, that got rid of the anxiety and weird feeling and I was slightly less irritable but not much. However, I had trouble breathing, like short breaths and hard to get a full breath and slightly tired. I dunno what gives here but its getting annoying. My first dose things are good, second not so much, still positive effects but also these negative ones. If the first dose would last longer then like 4-6 hours then I wouldn't take a second dose. I'm starting to wonder if I have an allergy or something. Any ideas?

That slow breathing thing, effort to get full breaths, tired feeling, snappish and crabby? That's almost certainly anxiety. That's exactly what mine feels like, the breathing was so slow and restricted sometimes my heart would skip a few beats, and it's why several doctors didn't suspect anxiety at first. We all thought I was dying or something, I even had to wear a heart monitor for two weeks.
You should stop the noopept or do only the one dose if only second doses are bothering you. Or at least decrease the dose. Try theanine again a few times by itself and see how you do with it because there is conflicting information about whether theanine increases or decreases serotonin. My personal experience causes me to lean towards lowering serotonin, at least in my case. Perhaps only happening after daily use for more than a month or two. It's still one of my faves but I've had to rework the times of day I take it otherwise I don't do that awesome with it.

When I take theanine by itself I don't have the breathing issues anymore which is great and no anxiety. Thats at 100mg a day. If I do 200mg a day then my blood pressure drops and I don't feel so well. I figured taking it with noopept would make me feel better however I'm not so sure at the moment. My doses are 5mg each, so 10 mg a day which is already very low. I'm very responsive to noopept. The thing that sucks is about 4 hours after my first dose of noopept I pretty much come back down to base and feel kind of tired, it sucks. Definitely not enhanced anymore, and those enhancement effects on the first dose are pretty profound in some ways. Almost makes me think I should do three 5mg doses through the day so I don't drop off and stay pretty level. But I don't believe that will be a good idea. I'm gonna give it a shot tomorrow though and take the l-theanine with the second dose in the middle of the day then take the third dose and see how I feel. Only reason I'm doing this three dose experiment is cause I took one 250mg cdp choline capsule and one 300mg alpha gpc capsule which should have me set with my choline intake for the week. I often wonder if choline plays a role in all of this for me. I will see tomorrow.
Also, on the topic of anxiety, when I took l-tyrosine in the morning and l-tryptophan at night for a week or so (took nothing else) I noticed the l-tyrosine got rid of the anxiety feelings and made me pretty tired but then at night when I took the l-tryptophan I felt kind of wired and the anxiety feelings came back. It was strange.

Your reactions to tyrosine and tryptophan suggest your brain is wired a bit differently than average. I'm inclined to say your dopamine is off, on the low side. GABA too probably. May serotonin a bit high. Noopept interacts with serotonin too.
All of this is speculative, I say it based on the knowledge I've gleaned over the years studying migraine and neurotransmitters due to my own problems. There's still a lot of grey area and knowledge voids from a scientific standpoint so I could be wrong about something.
Thus we experiment on ourselves.

Yea you pretty much read my mind. I opened up my bottle of aniracetam and decided I'm gonna try that tomorrow. I bought a sample pack last week with aniracetam, piracetam, oxiracetam, pramiracetam, and adrifinil. I've been messing around with noopept for about a month on and off and I have not achieved what I want after trying other things along side it. I think its time to give it a rest. It does suck cause I read this was like the best noot on the market and I even read an article that out of all the noots on the market, noopept was probably the most similar to the nzt-48 drug from the movie limitless, obviously not as exaggerated though. So in my mind I was like "why waste time, lets just go for the best", well it didn't turn out that way. I did have good days, and they were awesome. I'll be holding onto my noopept as well.
You'd be right about the dopamine, gaba, and serotonin. I took these online questionnaire test's and they all said the same, my serotonin was about normal and my dopamine and gaba were on the low side. When I take l-theanine all by itself I feel a lot more chill, no anxiety or breathing issues and that balances out everything but gives a little more attention to gaba and dopamine as well to my understanding.
