DIM exhibits potent antiproliferative and antiandrogenic properties in androgen-dependent human prostate cancer cells. DIM suppresses cell proliferation of LNCaP cells and inhibits dihydrotestosterone (DHT) stimulation of DNA synthesis. These activities were not produced in androgen-independent PC-3 cells. Moreover, DIM inhibited endogenous PSA transcription and reduced intracellular and secreted PSA protein levels induced by DHT in LNCaP cells. Also, DIM inhibited, in a concentration-dependent manner, the DHT-induced expression of a prostate-specific antigen promoter-regulated reporter gene construct in transiently transfected LNCaP cells.

Couldn't all of this be considered potentially beneficial for men?

Yeah, this is good news right? Obviously I wouldn't want it reducing androgen expression throughout the whole body but if it's just the prostate I would figure this is a protective counter measure to prostate cancer.

That's the rub, isn't it?  It seems from my reading of the paper that it may be an anti-androgen in the whole body, which is not so good unless maybe you have prostate cancer.

I am using a I3C/DIM supplement and having once per year my full hormone panel. As PCa is a concern of mine I wish to have DHT under control as well as E2 while having good level of Testosterone and free-T. So I hope I am having under control in general sense the "fully body" while trying to protect my prostate. I wrote a bit about this elsewhere on this Board. To me this paper looks like rather positive news at least to the extent we try and have the full picture.

Oh good find, was that in the full text? Didn't come across those parts. Does the text you highlighted necessarily mean it disrupts AR function throughout the whole body? I tried to read up on Casodex but couldn't find any info if it's effects were mainly in the prostate or if it exerted influence elsewhere.
