Hello Friends,

I have recently started a trial of Moclobemide.  It is going quite well other than some insomnia and slight background anxiety.  I feel a definite boost in mood and I would like to continue my prescription.

I have been reading Pubmed, searching Google, and scouring Longecity but I have found mixed results in terms of drug interactions and combinations.  On one hand, I have found a 2 year+ study suggesting Trazodone(low dose) for sleep was well tolerated with Moclobemide, On the other hand, I have read papers stating Serotonin Syndrome caused by a switch from Trazodone to Moclobemide, and similar SS reports.  I have read some of the potential drug interactions from different websites and I am at a loss of what to look into next.

My question is, Has anyone been on Moclobemide and safely combined it with any other prescription medication?  APs? Mood stabilizers? Lithium?  I will be talking to my Psychiatrist in 4 weeks, but in the meantime I would like some ideas to look into.

I have samples of Abilify, Zolpidem, and Trazodone(low dose from my Doc) on hand.  My Doctor says the low dose Trazodone should be fine, but I am still quite worried after reading those pubmed papers on the SS case reports involving traz and moclo.

Any insight or experience with Moclobemide is greatly appreciated.  I would like to give this drug a proper shot, but I cannot deal with long term insomnia and other slight side effects.

Thank you for your time,

Mike

Ive used Moclobemide for some time.

Highly recommend combining with NSI-189. We don't know the MoA of NSI, but it synergised extremely well.

It's not to be confused as an MAOI, but rather a RIMA.

It can be combined safely with many things, except you have to be careful with dosage.

Even combining with an SSRI in multiple studies showed very strong anti depressant effects, but only low doses are safe.

For insomnia take all of it in the morning, or take the Trazodone, or Melatonin

Good Morning Jaiho,

Thanks for your help, I will definitely be looking into NSI-189, I do not know much about it and it sounds very interesting.

I am taking the Moclobemide in the Morning, at a lower dose for a week, and it seems to be better for my sleep.  I dont think Ill need a sleep aid until I get up to a higher dose, hopefully not even then because I am not a fan of most sleep aids, other than Melatonin which I have been using for months at a micro dose.

I was interested in combining Pharmaceutical Lithium with the Moclobemide since a study said it was well tolerated for more than 2 years.

Anyways, I will do some more researching and be sure to update my progress with the Moclobemide, Hopefully this thread can help anyone else out there who is interested in this medication.

Have a good Day,

Mike

Does anyone know if Moclobemide can be safely used alongside Memantine?
