I meant to get back to this and I forgot. Salvia will fix the depression. If you have other problems like anxiety, that might not be affected. It might help some with that, the after effects of salvia use seem kind of calm but it's not a tranq. People who told me about it lifting their mood didn't say if they had anxiety or not. I haven't heard from anyone with depression who used salvia and reported it didn't help and I've heard from lots who said it did help. Take it from there.

I would suggest inositol. Perhaps 325 mg before bed. Keep increasing
until you get results. Maybe up to 2000mg or 3000mg per day. I get mine
from vrp.com.

It may help with anxiety and depression. Taking too much may cost
you your mental edge.

More info here if you're really interested:

A) Inositol is usually very helpful for UNDERMETHYLATED, HIGH HISTAMINE patients. This includes nearly every OCD patient we have seen. Inositol usually provides calming throughout the day and ability to settle down to sleep at night, for these patients.

B) On the other hand, OVERMETHYLATED patients usually derive little or no benefit from Inositol, and may experience very nasty side effects from it.

Thanks for the info xanadu. I have been doing some reading and I think it might indeed help someone like me, particularly if used along something like Kava.

Interesting. I've read some of this before, but I find it a little confusing in my case, since I guess I am bipolar with lots of anxiety. I did try inositol in the past, but after a few weeks, it seemed to cause intense anger in me. However, after reading the info at the page you linked, I think it could just have been a matter of me dosing to high. I bought it in bulk powder and was taking anywhere from 3 to 6 grams, two to three times a day. Maybe I'll give it another try in smaller doses.

Here is another article on the methylation imbalances... http://www.nutrition.....ical Subtypes

UNDERMETHYLATED and OVERMETHYLATED are terms I have heard of but really know nothing about. Someone on a MS list
feels they are important so I included them.

After recently trying inositol at about 2000 mg a day before bed, I've found that after about 1 week it will no longer
work. I increased the dosage slightly, but I just think my body (brain?) has adapted for now. It does help for a while to give
one a relaxed feeling. Perhaps inositol is for those times when we need it only.

Hi,

I am looking for some info and experiences from users of this group on the supplement SAME.

The keywords SAM-e, SAME, methionine etc... does not come up wuith search results.

Any one would like to share their experiences ?

There is a lot of stuff on the web but I am also looking for interactions with Aniracetam and 5-htp.

Thanks

SAM-e info here:

http://www.lef.org/p...040a.shtml#same

http://www.vrp.com/art/1608.asp

http://www.vrp.com/art/275.asp

http://www.vrp.com/art/1644.asp

"Since SAMe is unstable at higher temperatures, it should be kept refrigerated whenever possible. Enteric coated tablets should be used to ensure product stability, maximize absorption and avoid nausea and gastrointestinal disturbances. Reducing the dose size and taking it with meals will usually overcome this problem, although food can interfere with its potency. "

Hope this gets you started.

Regards,

Noo ! the thread isnt dead.

I have posted another thread called "Cool mood stack" that seems to work me me because I am feeling very good since.

The reason being that SAMe is somewhat expensive and I am trying out other alternatives for my energy motivation and mood trends...

I will read this more in depth and will probably try it eventually.

Thanks !

I've thought about it and here is what I'm going to do, unless a mod or other high person informs me it's against the rules. I'm willing to send a small sample of salvia to any depressed person who wants to try it. Lets keep it in the usa so I won't go broke on postage. Ok, I'll extend that to Canada as well. It will only be 1gm of plain but potent leaf, not the concentrate. That is enough for me to smoke and have wonderful mood lifting effects perhaps 10 times. It's enough for a newbie to try a couple or three times. It should be enough for a one time quid. Read the above posts for info on how to use.

I do not want to be paid back. Rather than sending me back a small amount of salvia, if you are convinced it works, send a small amount to someone who hasn't tried it yet. If it does you some good, then that's my reward. Just send me a pm if interested. I'd like to limit it to those who have been on the board before today. Maybe no one will take me up on it but who knows?

Salvia divinorum is a wonderful herb that has lifted the depression of everyone I know of who gave it a fair try. It may not work for you but if you use it according to directions you should have either the effects you want or no effects. If you aren't depressed it will likely have no effect beyond making you dream more. I use it when I feel the need.
