I read in an article in my local newspaper months ago that a specific chemical is in certain quantities in our body as we're babies, it's necessary for life and as we age we gradually lose bits of this chemical until there is no more and we die.
Google is absolutely not being helpful (as if it ever is) and all I can find are these nuisance pop-level articles aimed at the most ignorant and even these articles do not mention anything of the name of this chemical.

Does anyone know what this chemical might be?
