Friends of mine are considering now to cryopreserve blood cord stem cells from the placenta of their not yet born child.

They went to a company, where they have been explained, that after approximately 20 years the stem cells will be considered "donated". When they have asked more about that, they have been  explained further, that after 20 or so years, the stem cells will be unusable anyway.

Do you know if that is true? If so, this is a serious hit under the waist for those, who are saving stem cells.
